Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a highly accomplished and hands-on technology leader to serve as the Head of Corporate Functions Engineering – VP, responsible for building and leading a world-class engineering organization supporting Human Resources, Legal, Internal Audit, Global Security, Realty, and other Corporate Functions.
This leader will establish and scale a centralized engineering capability that serves as the technical backbone for Corporate Functions Technology. The organization will provide deep expertise across software engineering, AI engineering, data engineering, quality engineering, DevOps, platform enablement, and production support while partnering closely with business-aligned technology teams to accelerate delivery, improve quality, and drive innovation.
The ideal candidate is a technical leader who combines strong software development expertise with exceptional leadership, communication, organizational development, and execution skills. This individual must be equally comfortable reviewing architecture, coaching engineers, solving complex technical challenges, engaging with senior business stakeholders, and building high-performing global teams.
This role will play a critical leadership position in modernizing engineering practices, accelerating AI adoption, increasing delivery capacity, improving operational resilience, and establishing technical centers of excellence across the Corporate Functions portfolio.

This role will:
- Build and scale a centralized engineering organization supporting all Corporate Functions.
- Establish technical Centers of Excellence for Engineering, AI, Data, Quality Assurance, and Production Support.
- Create specialized technical "SWAT Teams" capable of accelerating strategic initiatives and resolving complex technical challenges.
- Improve software quality, engineering productivity, operational stability, and technology delivery consistency.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering, automation, cloud, and AI capabilities.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent globally.

What You Will Be Responsible For
1. Engineering Strategy & Leadership
- Define the vision, strategy, and operating model for Corporate Functions Engineering.
- Build scalable engineering capabilities that support multiple technology portfolios and business functions.
- Drive adoption of modern software engineering principles, tools, and delivery practices.
- Partner with technology leaders to improve execution, engineering maturity, and delivery outcomes.
- Establish measurable objectives focused on quality, productivity, innovation, resiliency, and operational excellence.
2. Software Engineering & Application Development
- Lead engineering teams responsible for custom application development across Corporate Functions.
- Establish enterprise development standards, reusable frameworks, development patterns, and engineering best practices.
- Promote modern engineering capabilities including:
- Cloud-native development
- API-first design
- Microservices architecture
- Event-driven platforms
- Secure software development
- DevSecOps practices
- Engineering automation
- Serve as a senior technical leader for complex architecture and engineering decisions.
3. AI Engineering & Intelligent Automation
- Build enterprise AI engineering capabilities that enable business transformation across Corporate Functions.
- Establish development teams focused on:
- AI-powered applications
- Agentic AI solutions
- Intelligent automation
- Workflow orchestration
- LLM-based applications
- Enterprise AI platform adoption
- Partner with architecture and business teams to convert AI concepts into scalable production solutions.
- Develop engineering standards for AI development, deployment, monitoring, governance, and operational support.
- Accelerate responsible adoption of AI technologies across the organization.
4. Data Engineering & Platform Enablement
- Lead shared data engineering capabilities supporting analytics, reporting, AI, and operational platforms.
- Establish standards for:
- Data engineering
- Data integration
- Data pipelines
- Data quality
- Data governance
- Platform engineering
- Support modernization toward cloud-native data platforms and scalable analytics capabilities.
- Enable business teams to leverage trusted and governed data assets.
5. Quality Engineering & Test Automation
- Build and lead a Quality Engineering organization focused on delivering quality at scale.
- Drive adoption of:
- Test automation
- Continuous testing
- Regression testing
- Performance testing
- Security testing
- Release quality controls
- Establish engineering quality metrics, standards, and governance processes.
- Improve production quality, deployment confidence, and customer experience.
6. Production Support & Operational Excellence
- Lead production support functions across the Corporate Functions technology portfolio.
- Establish standards for:
- Monitoring
- Observability
- Incident management
- Root cause analysis
- Problem management
- Platform resiliency
- Operational readiness
- Build a highly effective support organization capable of supporting mission-critical business applications.
- Drive improvements in uptime, service quality, support efficiency, and production stability.
7. Technical Enablement & Engineering SWAT Teams
- Establish specialized engineering teams that can rapidly engage across strategic initiatives and critical technical challenges.
- Build expert capabilities supporting:
- Custom application development
- AI implementation
- Data engineering
- Cloud engineering
- Platform modernization
- Performance optimization
- Technical debt reduction
- Production issue resolution
- Provide expert technical resources that can accelerate delivery and solve the organization's most complex problems.
- Act as the escalation point for significant technology and engineering challenges.
8. Talent Development & Organizational Leadership
- Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent across multiple technical disciplines.
- Build strong career paths across Engineering, AI, Data, Quality Engineering, and Production Support functions.
- Develop future engineering leaders and technical experts.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
- Establish technical communities of practice and skills development programs.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering, application development, technology delivery, or platform engineering.
- 8+ years of leadership experience managing large technical teams and complex engineering organizations.
- Hands-on experience building and delivering enterprise-scale applications and technology platforms.
- Proven experience leading organizations responsible for development, engineering enablement, testing, and production support.
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Software engineering
- Cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- AI and automation technologies
- Data engineering
- Platform engineering
- DevOps and CI/CD
- Quality engineering
- Production operations
- Experience building and scaling high-performing engineering organizations.
- Demonstrated success recruiting, developing, and retaining engineering talent.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading enterprise engineering organizations within financial services or other regulated industries.
- Experience building AI engineering and intelligent automation capabilities.
- Experience supporting enterprise platforms across HR, Legal, Audit, Risk, Security, or Corporate Functions domains.
- Experience establishing Engineering Centers of Excellence and shared service delivery models.
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, modern engineering platforms, and enterprise AI technologies.
- Experience supporting global engineering teams and distributed delivery models.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 12–24 months, this leader will:
- Build a recognized Corporate Functions Engineering organization that serves as the technical center of excellence for all Corporate Functions technology.
- Establish strong capabilities across Engineering, AI, Data, Quality Engineering, and Production Support.
- Create specialized technical SWAT teams that accelerate delivery and solve complex technical challenges.
- Improve engineering quality, operational stability, and delivery consistency across the portfolio.
- Increase organizational technical depth while building a strong pipeline of future engineering leaders.
- Position Corporate Functions Technology with scalable technical capabilities that support innovation, modernization, and long-term growth.
Salary Range:
$120,000 - $217,500 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
