Head of Merchandise Governance & Operations

The Brands & Buying team is at the heart of delivering the right products, in the right place, at the right time for our customers. As part of the continued evolution of our Brands & Buying function, we're excited to introduce the newly created role of Head of Merchandise Governance & Operations. 

This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead the operational backbone of the function, bringing together Governance & Analytics and Supply Operations & Distribution under one strategic leader. You'll establish the vision, optimise how the function operates, and play a critical role in driving operational excellence, inventory performance and enterprise-wide transformation initiatives across MECCA. 

The Role You Could Play: 

Reporting to the General Manager - Merchandise Operations, you will lead the Merchandise Governance & Operations function, overseeing Governance & Analytics and Supply Operations & Distribution. You will: 

• Lead and develop high-performing Governance and Supply Operations teams, driving accountability, capability and continuous improvement. 

• Oversee merchandise governance, including master data, pricing governance, obsolescence governance, inventory reporting and core Buying & Brands operational processes. 

• Drive replenishment strategy and inventory execution, partnering with Supply Chain, Planning and Retail to optimise availability and inventory performance. 

• Represent Brands & Buying on enterprise-wide initiatives including ERP, Availability and other strategic transformation programs. 

• Own operational performance across key functional KPIs, identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and commercial outcomes. 

What You Will Bring: 

You are a commercially minded leader with deep expertise in merchandise operations, governance and supply chain. Ideally, you will bring: 

• Significant leadership experience across merchandise operations, inventory, supply chain, planning or buying support functions. 

• Strong knowledge of replenishment, allocation, inventory management and merchandise governance within a retail environment. 

• Experience leading cross-functional projects and enterprise transformation initiatives, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders. 

• A strategic mindset supported by strong analytical capability, systems knowledge and a passion for continuous improvement. 

• Proven ability to build high-performing teams while balancing operational excellence with commercial outcomes.
