About this role
The IIoT Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions that connect food and beverage processing equipment with cloud-based digital applications and advanced data analytics platforms. This role combines expertise in industrial automation, connectivity, cloud technologies, and data engineering to deliver scalable digital solutions that enable real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, process optimization, asset performance management, and sustainability initiatives. This position can be based in Alcobendas (Spain), Naas (Ireland) or Bogota (Colombia), depending on the selected candidate.
Responsibilities / Tasks
- Integrate Siemens and Rockwell automation systems with cloud-based platforms, including Microsoft Azure, InfluxDB, and Databricks.
- Support the development of digital applications for equipment monitoring, asset performance management, predictive maintenance, energy management, water optimization, and production performance analytics.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Automation Engineers to define technical requirements.
- Implement edge-to-cloud connectivity solutions for real-time data collection and monitoring.
- Drive the standardization of digital architectures and integration frameworks.
- Ensure IIoT solutions comply with OT cybersecurity standards and industry best practices.
- Implement standardized industrial data models, asset hierarchies, and contextualized data structures.
- Support the development of reusable connectivity and analytics solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of digital products.
Your Profile / Qualifications
Educational Background
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering or Computer Science.
Professional Knowledge and Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Industrial Automation, IIoT, Cloud Engineering, or Digital Solutions.
- Experience delivering cloud-based software products using Microsoft Azure.
- Experience working with InfluxDB and Databricks for time-series data management, analytics, and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA, HMI, and industrial control systems within process or manufacturing industries.
- Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Knowledge of Food & Beverage processes.
- Awareness of IEC 62443 and industrial cybersecurity principles.
- Fluent English (B2/C1) required.
- Spanish or German would be considered a strong advantage.
