Job Details

The Tax Analyst is responsible for assisting in the preparation of the federal and state corporate income tax returns. Assists with special projects, responds to state inquiries and assists with state audits and annual reports.


Responsibilties

  • Prepares assigned components of federal, state, and local income tax returns and related workpapers to support complete and timely filings.

  • Compiles, validates, and reconciles tax data from financial records and source systems to ensure accuracy and auditability of compliance inputs.

  • Supports tax provision processes by preparing schedules and analyses that align taxable income, book-to-tax differences, and related adjustments.

  • Creates and maintains tax work papers utilizing software applications such as Microsoft Excel and ONESOURCE.

  • Maintains compliance calendars, trackers, and documentation repositories to support governance, controls, and on-time execution.

  • Drafts responses to routine tax notices and information requests by assembling support and coordinating required follow-ups.

  • Supports state audits, annual reports, and special projects by preparing schedules, retrieving documentation, and updating filing status.

  • Monitors legislative and regulatory tax developments by summarizing impacts to assigned compliance areas and updating standard workpapers as needed.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, taxation, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.

  • 2+ years of experience in tax compliance, tax accounting, or a related field required.

Certifications

  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Enrolled Agent (EA), or equivalent preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of corporate income tax compliance fundamentals.

  • Knowledge of book-to-tax concepts and common adjustments.

  • Knowledge of tax workpaper preparation and documentation standards.

  • Ability to perform data reconciliation and issue resolution.

  • Intermediate to advanced spreadsheet skills.

  • Familiarity with tax calendars, filing governance, and internal controls.

  • Ability to interpret tax notices and compile support packages.

  • Understanding of the impact of legislative changes on compliance.
