Position Summary
Chevron is seeking an IT/OT Infrastructure & Cybersecurity Engineer to support and enhance Operational Technology (OT) and Plant Control Network (PCN) environments at the Omaezaki site in Shizuoka, Japan.
This role will contribute to reliable and secure IT/OT operations, infrastructure lifecycle management, cybersecurity compliance, and site implementation of regional and global technology initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with local business teams, vendors, managed service providers, and Chevron regional and global IT/OT subject matter experts.

Background and Purpose

  • The position is intended to strengthen the local IT/OT infrastructure capability at the Omaezaki site.

  • The role will support important roadmap initiatives such as OT ACE, DCS Connectivity to the Business Network, CI Server implementation, and Lab Network expansion and support.

  • The business network is supported by managed service providers, while the OT space requires strong internal Chevron ownership and local hands-on support.

  • In addition to technical skills, the role requires bilingual communication, project coordination, collaboration in a multicultural environment, adaptability, and a willingness to keep learning.

Key Responsibilities

OT / PCN Infrastructure Operations and Support

  • Support lifecycle management of OT / PCN infrastructure, including servers, workstations, virtualization platforms, storage, network components, and related assets.

  • Provide technical troubleshooting, incident analysis, and corrective actions for OT systems and industrial network environments.

  • Support system builds, patching, antivirus management, backup and recovery, monitoring, and inventory management.

  • Work with site teams and vendors on changes, deployments, and support activities in PCN, OT, and SCADA environments.

Infrastructure and Network Foundation

  • Support Windows Server environments and enterprise infrastructure platforms.

  • Support virtualization platforms such as VMware and related server, storage, and hyperconverged infrastructure environments.

  • Support Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, authentication services, and directory services.

  • Apply knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting to resolve infrastructure issues.

Cybersecurity, Governance, and Compliance

  • Support OT / PCN cybersecurity, governance, and compliance with Chevron and industry standards.

  • Assist with vulnerability remediation, security improvements, risk reduction, compliance verification, and information risk activities.

  • Participate in root cause analysis, preventive action planning, and incident response.

  • Follow change management processes to help ensure safe, reliable, and secure IT/OT operations.

Project Delivery and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support site implementation and operational readiness for regional and global IT/OT initiatives.

  • Coordinate with local business teams, managed service providers, vendors, and regional and global IT/OT teams.

  • Clarify technical issues, align stakeholders, and help drive practical solutions.

  • Participate in future OT modernization, industrial digitalization, and lab network expansion activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in IT infrastructure, OT infrastructure, industrial systems, networking, systems engineering, or a related field.

  • Practical experience or foundational knowledge of Windows Server environments and enterprise infrastructure platforms.

  • Foundational networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.

  • Professional communication skills in both Japanese and English. The role requires Japanese communication with local manufacturing, laboratory, vendor, and site stakeholders, and English communication with regional and global teams through meetings, email, documentation, and issue coordination.

  • Ability to build trusted relationships with multiple stakeholders and explain technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong teamwork, coordination, ownership, problem-solving capability, adaptability, and willingness to learn in a changing environment.

  • Commitment to Health, Environment and Safety, and ability to work appropriately in a site-based operational environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), SCADA, DCS, or Plant Control Networks (PCN).

  • Knowledge or practical experience in industrial cybersecurity, OT security, or network security.

  • Experience with VMware, Active Directory, Windows Server, backup and recovery, or monitoring tools.

  • IT/OT support experience in manufacturing, energy, chemicals, oil and gas, process industries, or laboratory environments.

  • Experience in project management, technical project coordination, vendor management, or managed service provider coordination.

  • Certifications such as CCNA / CCNP, Microsoft certifications, VMware certifications, Security+, CISSP, GICSP, or ITIL Foundation.

Work Location and Schedule

Working conditions

• Location: Chevron site in Omaezaki, Shizuoka, Japan.

• Work style: Due to the nature of OT and site infrastructure support, this is expected to be an on-site role. Regular remote work is not expected.

• Standard workdays: Monday to Friday.

• Standard working hours: 8:00 to 17:00 JST.

• Exceptions may occur for planned maintenance, project implementation, critical incident support, weekend work, after-hours work, or coordination with global teams across time zones.
