Role Overview -

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Healthcare Integration Engineer to design, develop, and maintain critical HL7 and DICOM interfaces.
  • In this role, you will take full ownership of the interface lifecycle - spanning client requirement gathering, planning, implementation, deployment, post-deployment support, production monitoring, and continuous optimization.

Key Responsibilities -

  • Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, vendors, and clients, to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications.
  • Interface Development: Design, build, and maintain robust HL7 and DICOM interfaces to ensure seamless data flow between disparate clinical systems.
  • Quality Assurance: Identify testing scenarios, author comprehensive test cases, and execute end-to-end integration testing in coordination with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Production Support: Monitor production interfaces, proactively identify issues, and provide timely troubleshooting and resolution for reported incidents.
  • Environment Management: Take end-to-end ownership of deploying, configuring, and maintaining interfaces across Dev, QA, and Production environments.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain thorough technical documentation for all new and existing integration workflows, applications, and interfaces.
  • Continuous Learning: Maintain a proactive mindset to master system architectures, adopt new technologies, and stay up to date with evolving HL7 standards and interface engine features (e.g., Mirth Connect, Kailo).

Required Skills

  • Experience: 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining interfaces for healthcare application integrations.
  • Interface Engines: Proven expertise in at least one major interface engine, such as Mirth Connect (NextGen Connect), Rhapsody, Kailo, or Cloverleaf.
  • Healthcare Standards: Sound understanding of HL7 v2 standards (specifically ADT, ORM, and ORU message types) and DICOM standards.
  • Workflow Knowledge: Strong understanding of clinical applications and workflows, including RIS, PACS, PACS Viewers, Radiology reporting worklists, and overall Orders/Results workflows in Radiology.
  • Problem Solving: Sound analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex production issues in RIS/Imaging environments.
  • Soft Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with client IT teams and vendors.
  • Adaptability: Proven ability to adapt quickly to evolving project needs, priorities, and tight deadlines.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with the Kailo interface engine.
  • Experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server) and writing complex SQL queries or stored procedures.
  • Familiarity or foundational knowledge of modern healthcare data standards, including FHIR, X12, and CCDA.
