Intern Asset Management (with Portuguese) - Renewable Energy
Based in our Madrid office, you will join Aquila Capital as a Renewable Energy Asset Management Intern, supporting the management of a diversified portfolio of renewable energy assets across Europe and contributing to our mission of driving the global energy transition.
Working closely with experienced Commercial Asset Managers and other internal teams, you will gain hands-on exposure to the financial, commercial, and operational management of renewable energy investments, while supporting initiatives aimed at maximizing asset performance and value.
Your Responsibilities:
- Asset Management Support: Assist Commercial Asset Managers in the day-to-day supervision of renewable energy assets and operating companies, supporting initiatives to preserve and enhance asset value.
- Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Support the monitoring of operational and financial KPIs across a diversified renewable energy portfolio. Analyze asset performance, identify deviations and contribute to optimization initiatives.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Prepare, analyze and maintain financial and operational reports, dashboards and performance analyses using Excel and other analytical tools.
- Commercial & Contractual Support: Gain exposure to key project agreements such as O&M, PPA, TCMA, insurance, land lease and financing agreements, supporting contract monitoring and commercial analysis.
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial modelling to support asset-level and portfolio-level decision-making.
- Market & Regulatory Research: Monitor developments in European renewable energy markets and regulatory frameworks, with a particular focus on** Portugal**, and translate findings into relevant insights for the team.
- Problem Solving: Support the identification and analysis of operational, commercial and financial issues and contribute to developing practical solutions.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Support communication and coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders such as operating partners, service providers, advisors and other project counterparties.
Your Profile:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, Energy Management or a related field.
- Strong interest in renewable energy, infrastructure investments and asset management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to work confidently with financial and operational data.
- Very good Excel skills; previous experience with financial modelling, Power BI or other analytical tools is a plus.
- Structured, proactive and detail-oriented working style with a willingness to learn and take ownership.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate in an international environment.
- Fluent English is required; Portuguese is highly valued. Knowledge of Spanish or other European languages is an additional advantage.
- Previous internship, working student experience or academic exposure to renewable energy, infrastructure, finance, consulting or asset management is beneficial but not required.
