Job Summary

The internship program occurs in various areas of CHOC Children's hospital. Interns will get hands-on training and mentorship in a wide array of competencies that will help in their professional development. The Intern is responsible for completing designated projects or activities as assigned in various areas. Internship programs are limited to the amount of funding for such program, and will end at the discretion of the department or funds available for the position.

Pay Range

Minimum $23.00 Midpoint $25.71 Maximum $28.42

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Under the supervision of the Director of Biostatistics, the intern will become part of a leadership team for the MedTech project portfolio that manages multiple projects designed to improve patient outcomes, reduce costs or increase efficiencies in the health system.

The intern will be responsible for a variety of activities associated with the portfolio including but not limited to:

  • Assist in supporting specific software builds for projects across the health system;

  • Meet with stakeholders to understand project goals, tasks, workflow, timelines, and desired outcomes;

  • Engage with patients and families as needed, to support digital health application development and  U/X design;

  • Ensure MedTech is data-driven, culturally responsive, HIPPA compliant, has sufficient guardrails for a pediatric population, and is age appropriate;

  • Perform other related tasks as needed.

  • Preferred Skills: C++; Python, Java, Javascript, Typescript, Github, Git, HTML, CSS, React, React Native, Figma, API,  MongoDB Atlas, AWS S3 Ionic, Angular, Assembly, SQL, Prolog, Lisp, Postman, Supabase

Education

Required: Currently enrollment in college or university program, or Bachelor's Degree, or Master's Degree.

Specialized Skills

Required: Intermediate skills in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); ability to maintain strict confidentiality; good interpersonal communication and listening skills; strong customer service skills; effective verbal and written communication. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction.

Preferred: Analytical skills necessary to assess facts/data and develop recommendations. Interpersonal communication skills required to work with a variety of personnel.

Licensure

Preferred: Basic Life Support (BLS).

Work Environments - Functional Demand:

Light - Moderate energy level Lift and carry 25-35 lbs. Push/pull 50-100 lbs. (ie. empty bed, stretcher).
