Core Accountabilities & Deliverables
Native iOS Architecture: Build and maintain the iOS application in Swift using the native iOS SDK.
CoreBluetooth Layer Ownership: Implement and own a rock-solid, deterministic BLE communication layer using CoreBluetooth (device discovery, pairing, Central/Peripheral delegate flows, GATT interactions, connection state management, and reliable background reconnection logic).
Technical Architecture: Translate product requirements, multi-layered state charts, and API schemas into reliable architectural code to eliminate integration errors downstream.
Background & State Restoration: Handle background BLE execution modes (bluetooth-central), state restoration patterns, and background termination recovery.
Telemetry & Subscriptions: Integrate client-side telemetry to support usage analytics and tiered user subscription tracking (Basic, Plus, Pro).
Apple Health Ecosystem: Deep integration with HealthKit and other third-party health data sources (Fitbit, Samsung Health).
Proactive QA Testing: Write robust unit and integration tests; proactively simulate connection failures, characteristic notification throttling, and packet drops locally before passing code to QA cycles.
Required Technical Skills
Experience: 4+ years of professional iOS development experience.
Swift Concurrency Mastery: High proficiency in Swift (async/await, Swift Concurrency, Combine, protocols, and generics).
Production CoreBluetooth Engineering: Hands-on mastery of Central Manager, Peripheral, Service, and Characteristic lifecycle delegates.
Real-World BLE Tuning: Proven capability handling system bonding, MTU negotiation, RSSI smoothing, and iOS 13+ privacy prompt flows.
Modern UI Frameworks: Strong experience with SwiftUI for building modern user interfaces, alongside a working knowledge of UIKit for hybrid codebases.
Network & Profile Management: REST API integration using modern URLSession patterns or Alamofire. Xcode mastery including Instruments (Leaks, Time Profiler), TestFlight deployments, provisioning profiles, and App Store submission management.
Git Hygiene: Exceptional Git hygiene (clean branching strategies, structured PR description templates, and linear commit histories).
Nice to Have
Experience with Wi-Fi provisioning flows from iOS (NetworkExtension, NEHotspotConfiguration, Network framework).
Familiarity with OTA firmware update flows triggered securely from the mobile application.
Experience with background URLSession configurations for reliable offline sync and upload retry logic.
Charting / complex data visualization libraries (Swift Charts or custom Canvas rendering).
Native packaging tools like Swift Package Manager (SPM).
