Integrated Solutions Well Engineer performs all the well engineering activities within a project or Center of Excellence according to guidelines and processes set out in the Integrated Solutions Management System, international and/or local standards and regulations and customer requirements.
The Integrated Solutions Well Engineer performs all the well engineering activities within a project or Center of Excellence according to guidelines and processes set out in the Integrated Solutions Management System, international and/or local standards and regulations and customer requirements. The Integrated Solutions WE provide technical input to the well construction, completions, well intervention and abandonment phases, from the concept and tendering stage through project commencement, execution and project close out. During tendering phases, in addition to engineering work, the engineer will be supporting the commercial and procurement teams. During planning and execution stages, the engineer interfaces with stakeholders to ensure safety, well integrity and cost-effective job execution. The WE ensure the well design and well program is prepared and detailed procedures are provided to the execution team; the WE are a key contributor during project execution providing follow up, technical input, and operational support.
As a Well Engineer Intervention, you will also be responsible for:
The Integrated Solutions Well Engineer will take the ownership of preparing basic well design, technical requirements, and operational plans to accomplish both Baker Hughes and customer’s technical and financial goals. The well engineer drives close engagement with service delivery, HSE, finance, commercial and sales, and other Baker Hughes product lines.
In this role, they will be involved in the planning and execution of Integrated Solutions projects. The main responsibilities are:
- Ensure all engineering activities are in line with HSE policies and procedures, and drive HSE culture by setting example through safe work practices.
- Conduct business according to Baker Hughes values.
- Participate in tender bid preparation process for well engineering input.
- Participate in customer presentations & meetings (may include travel to other locations).
- Preparation of well design, well plan and operational procedures for intervention, completion and/or abandonment of wells in area of responsibility. May temporarily work in planning activities related to well construction according to business needs.
- Define technical services and third-party requirements.
- Prepare operational time and cost estimates.
- In collaboration with internal and external parties, prepare risk register and contingency plans.
- Prepare and participate in peer reviews, peer assists, and other quality assurance activities related to the project.
- Monitor daily progress of job(s) or project(s) and monitor operations expenditure.
- Evaluate the application and implementation of best practices and technological advancements to Integrated Solutions operations.
- Communicate effectively with well site/project stakeholders as needed and make recommendations to drive flawless service delivery and operational excellence as per approved plans.
- Monitor technical and operations KPIs and benchmark against offset well data and pre-defined well objectives.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis investigation.
- Prepare all technical reports related to the project including End of Well Report, after action reviews, lessons learned summary.
- Comply with data management according to Integrated Solutions procedures.
- Keep abreast of technological and engineering process advancements through affiliation with professional societies and participation in networks, workshops, seminars and training courses.
- Ensuring that engineering and operational achievements and challenges are captured through case histories, lessons learned or papers and shared with the global team.
- May mentor and coach less experienced engineering team members.
- May temporarily manage an engineering team
Specific Responsibilities:
The ‘Well Engineer – Interventions’ will be responsible for all the tasks and activities related to Workover and Plug and Abandonment, with a strong focus on planning operations of Light Workover, Heavy Workover (interventions involving replacement/removal of production tubing or similar operations) and Abandonment of ultra deep-water wells.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Petroleum Engineering or Mechanical/Chemical Engineering with MS in Petroleum/Oil & Gas or Well Engineering.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in completions, intervention and/or optimization: the experience could include intervention operations (please see desired characteristics), completions, sand control, flow/inflow control, flow assurance, downhole equipment selection, production, well testing, preparation of programs/designs, or similar.
- Interpersonal skills to work well with colleagues across all businesses/cultures, achieve objectives through effective influencing, and establish credibility with senior leaders.
- Excellent analytics and problem-solving, including ability to form hypotheses and move forward in the absence of complete information.
- Advanced English oral and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize complex topics into clear and simple messages.
- MS office suite, power BI or other analytical tools, well engineering and design software (for example: hydraulics, torque and drag, basic casing design).
- Have basic well control knowledge.
- Demonstrate previous relevant well delivery experience with multi-disciplined team.
- Demonstrate knowledge/exposure to specific applications: Light Workovers, Heavy Workovers, Plug and Abandonment Operations.
- Demonstrates ability to deliver continuous improvement in well design and operational performance.
- Desirable knowledge of the Technical Regulations for the Well Integrity Management System (SGIP - ANP Resolution 46/2016);
- Basic knowledge of conjunto solidário de barreiras.
- Data competence: processing, transfer, collection, organization, grouping, notions of statistical analysis, decision tree.
Desired Characteristics:
- Demonstrate experience working in at least two relevant applications applied to interventions and P&A: well access, wireline, slickline, DSL, coil tubing, nitrogen operations, cementing, perforating, pipe/string cutting and removal, fishing, completions (tally), plugging well structures, stimulation & evaluation, pressure measurement, completion or intervention fluids operations, flowback and well testing.
Reports to: Engineering Lead, Region Leader or Engineering Director.
