Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our IT team as a Trainee - IT Network Admin. This entry-level position is ideal for recent graduates or individuals looking to start their career in network administration. The trainee will work under the supervision of experienced IT professionals, gaining hands-on experience in managing and maintaining our company’s network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Hardware Installation and Repair:
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux, Windows, and Mac operating systems.
- Perform hardware repairs and upgrades for desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.
- Support with setting up and troubleshooting VPNs, data backup, and restore processes.
- Assist in crimping RJ45 cables, performing I/O punchdowns, and
- maintaining network connectivity for hardware devices.
Network and Systems Support:
- Monitor and maintain network performance and security.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and escalate to senior staff when needed.
- Assist in the setup and configuration of routers, switches, and other network devices.
- Support IT teams in resolving help desk tickets related to hardware and network issues.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of hardware configurations, repairs, and system changes.
- Assist in the creation and updating of IT documentation, including diagrams and processes.
Security and Compliance:
- Assist in maintaining network and hardware security, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Stay informed on the latest cybersecurity practices to help safeguard IT infrastructure.
Techno-Management:
- Manage IT assets, keeping accurate inventory records.
- Use ticketing systems to track and resolve IT service requests promptly.
- Collaborate with team members to implement IT best practices and maintain smooth IT operations.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Basic understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Familiarity with hardware repair processes for desktops and laptops.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Basic knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, A+, or CCNA) are advantageous but not required.
- Familiarity with hardware repairs for desktops and laptops.
