IT Infrastructure Solution Architect
Location: Hyderabad, India
We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect – to design and standardize enterprise hosting solutions across a global, multi-site and regulated environment. The role requires strong experience with VMware, Windows/Linux, Nutanix/HCI. Experience with Ansible, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Infrastructure as Code and Azure is considered a plus.
The successful candidate should be able to translate business requirements into secure, resilient, scalable and supportable technical solutions while working effectively with global technical and business stakeholders.
As a trusted partner to business stakeholders, Quality, Security, and Global IT teams, you will drive technology innovation, operational excellence, and lifecycle management while ensuring adherence to GMP, regulatory, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture standards.
This is an office-first role. Working together in person supports close, real-time collaboration and team alignment, enabling us to deliver our best work. You will work primarily in the office, with the flexibility to work remotely for 40% of your time (two days per week).

What you will do
Strategic Architecture & Solution Design
Design and maintain enterprise hosting architectures and standards across global infrastructure environments.
Translate business and technical requirements into secure, resilient, scalable, and supportable infrastructure solutions.
Evaluate technologies and vendors, providing clear architecture recommendations and technical direction.
Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Operations, Engineering, application teams, and external partners to ensure successful solution delivery.
Provide architecture governance and lifecycle oversight, ensuring solutions remain aligned with global standards, support models, and technology roadmaps.
Must have criteria’s: - Enterprise hosting architecture experience (VMWare / Nutanix / HCI Platforms) - Windows and Linux hosting - Enterprise Storage - Infrastructure resilience / DR - Experience maintaining and taking care of operations of mission critical systems. - Security by design
Optional knowledge:
Automation Skills (Ansible is a plus) - Container orchestrators (K8s based) - Cloud platforms knowledge (Azure) - Experience in infrastructure operations.
Delivery & Lifecycle Ownership
- Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of global and regional infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, budgets, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure solutions are designed, implemented, validated, operated, and retired according to established lifecycle management practices.
- Drive platform modernization, technology refreshes, infrastructure upgrades, and strategic transformation initiatives.
- Support project teams throughout the solution lifecycle by providing architectural guidance and design oversight.
Operational Excellence & Stability
- Act as the technical escalation owner for major incidents, complex problem investigations, and cross-platform service disruptions.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, scalability, and performance of enterprise solution systems and infrastructure platforms.
- Lead root cause analysis activities and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance platform stability and reduce operational risk.
- Establish and monitor operational standards, service quality metrics, and infrastructure best practices.
Disaster Recovery, Security & Compliance
- Ensure infrastructure solutions meet business continuity, disaster recovery, resilience, and recovery objectives through robust architecture and regular testing.
- Drive compliance with GMP, GxP, data integrity, cybersecurity, and Lonza internal governance standards.
- Collaborate closely with IT Security, Quality Assurance, Validation, Risk, and Audit teams to ensure regulatory readiness and successful audit outcomes.
- Support the implementation of security-by-design principles across infrastructure and enterprise solution landscapes.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage strategic relationships with technology vendors, managed service providers, and outsourcing partners to ensure service quality and delivery excellence.
- Lead technical solution reviews, evaluate vendor roadmaps, and provide recommendations for technology investments and platform evolution.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, site IT teams, program managers, and global stakeholders.
- Ensure vendor services align with service level agreements (SLAs), operational requirements, compliance standards, and business needs.
Innovation & Technology Leadership
- Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and innovative infrastructure solutions to support Lonza's digital transformation roadmap.
- Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and feasibility assessments for new technologies and strategic investments.
- Drive innovation programs focused on automation, cloud adoption, infrastructure modernization, and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to the development and execution of long-term IT infrastructure and enterprise technology strategies.
Leadership & Mentoring
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to infrastructure engineers, architects, solution designers, and project teams.
- Promote architecture best practices, technical standards, and knowledge-sharing across the global IT organization.
- Support capability development and succession planning through coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance.
- Influence cross-functional decision-making and foster collaboration across global teams.
What we are looking for
- Proven experience in infrastructure architecture, solution design, and enterprise technology leadership within complex global organizations.
- Strong expertise in infrastructure platforms including virtualization, storage, backup, networking, cloud technologies, disaster recovery, and enterprise systems architecture.
- Experience designing and governing highly available, secure, and scalable infrastructure solutions in regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks, infrastructure lifecycle management, and IT governance practices.
- Experience supporting GMP, GxP, data integrity, cybersecurity, and compliance requirements within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, manufacturing, or other regulated industries.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, automation technologies, infrastructure modernization strategies, and hybrid technology environments.
- Experience managing technical vendors, outsourcing partners, and multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities with the ability to balance business needs, technical requirements, and compliance expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex global initiatives and influence stakeholders across multiple functions and regions.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
