Jersey Director, Affluent Client Relationships

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Director, Affluent Client Relationships to join our Wealth and Retail Banking business in Jersey. This is an exciting opportunity to manage and grow a portfolio of high-value Affluent clients, providing tailored wealth solutions, high-quality advisory support and an exceptional client experience.

In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them achieve their financial objectives through holistic wealth, investment, credit and banking solutions. You will play a key role in deepening existing relationships, originating new business and supporting the continued growth of our Jersey client base within a diverse, international and well-connected banking network.

This is a regulated role and is subject to the individual obtaining and maintaining the required regulatory registrations and/or certifications under the relevant regulatory frameworks. The role holder must not undertake regulated activities until the required approvals are formally obtained

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, retain and grow a portfolio of Affluent clients, with a strong focus on building long-term, trusted relationships.
  
• Conduct regular, proactive client conversations to understand client needs, identify opportunities and provide suitable wealth, investment, credit and banking solutions.
  
• Originate new business through structured prospecting, referrals, client networks and opportunities within the wider Standard Chartered network.
  
• Deliver needs-based financial advice and market insights, ensuring recommendations are aligned to client objectives, suitability requirements and risk profiles.
  
• Drive portfolio growth through cross-selling, up-tiering and deepening initiatives, increasing share of wallet and wealth penetration across the client base.
  
• Conduct client portfolio reviews and work closely with investment and credit specialists to identify and address client needs.
  
• Support the delivery of Assets Under Management growth, wealth revenue growth and wider commercial objectives.
  

• Maintain strong knowledge of banking, wealth, investment and credit products, as well as market trends and competitor activity.
  
• Ensure all client interactions and product offerings comply with applicable Country Engagement Rules, local regulations and internal policies
  
• Complete client due diligence, KYC reviews and related documentation in line with financial crime, compliance and regulatory requirements.
  
• Escalate suspicious activity, conduct concerns or suitability issues promptly in line with internal governance and regulatory frameworks.
  
• Support colleagues through knowledge sharing, buddying and, where appropriately qualified and authorised, formal supervision of designated Relationship Managers.
  
• Represent the Bank professionally with clients, internal stakeholders and external partners, maintaining high standards of conduct and client service.
  
• Be prepared to travel for business purposes where required

Skills and Experience

• Relevant minimum 5 years experience in relationship management, wealth management, investment advisory or client advisory roles, preferably gained within banking, financial services, local advisory firms, trusts or related client-facing environments.
• Proven ability to build, manage and grow relationships with high-value clients.
• Strong understanding of wealth management, investment products, credit products, banking products and client due diligence processes.
• Ability to provide suitable, client-focused advice and solutions within relevant regulatory and internal policy requirements.
• Strong commercial mindset, with the ability to identify growth opportunities, generate referrals and support revenue objectives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging clients and stakeholders at different levels.
• Strong negotiation, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex client instructions professionally.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and deliver within tight timeframes.
• Collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively across teams, specialists and stakeholders in a multi-regional organisation.

Qualifications

• Appropriate investment qualification equivalent to CISI Investment Advice Diploma Level 4 minimum, recognised by JFSC https://www.jerseyfsc.org/media/2687/gn-professional-qualifications-ib.pdf, and if you have RE5 South Africa Investment Representative qualification of FSCA, it will be an advantage else it will be required to be completed imminently upon being selected.
• Valid Jersey work rights or permit.
