About the Team
NXP Semiconductors is seeking an Analog IC Layout Engineer to join the Central Layout Group serving the Power & Energy Business Line, with a primary focus on Automotive Power Solutions (APS).
The Central Layout Group delivers physical implementation expertise for complex mixed-signal and power management integrated circuits supporting multiple product lines worldwide. The team collaborates with Design, Verification, Package, Test and Product Engineering organizations across a global R&D network to develop next-generation automotive and industrial semiconductor solutions. 
Role Summary
We are looking for a motivated junior engineer interested in developing a career in Analog IC Layout.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced layout engineers and analog designers, contributing to the implementation and verification of mixed-signal integrated circuits for automotive and industrial applications.
This position offers a unique opportunity to learn advanced layout methodologies, semiconductor technologies, and product development processes within a worldwide engineering organization.
Key Responsibilities
Layout Development
  • Develop Analog and Mixed-Signal layout blocks under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support floorplanning and physical implementation activities.
  • Translate schematics into high-quality physical layouts.
  • Apply matching, shielding and reliability-oriented layout techniques.
Verification and Quality
  • Execute DRC and LVS verification flows.
  • Debug common DRC and LVS violations.
  • Support physical verification and sign-off activities.
  • Follow layout guidelines, checklists and design methodologies.
Learning and Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Analog Design, Verification and Layout teams.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
  • Contribute to documentation and continuous improvement activities.
  • Continuously develop layout, technology and tool expertise. 
Required Skills
  • Basic understanding of Analog IC design and semiconductor technologies.
  • Knowledge of electronic schematics and layout concepts.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong willingness to learn.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Cadence Virtuoso.
  • Familiarity with Calibre or equivalent physical verification tools.
  • Exposure to Analog or Mixed-Signal IC design through academic projects, internships or thesis work.
  • Basic Linux knowledge.
  • Interest in semiconductor technology, layout automation and AI-assisted engineering solutions.

As of the date of this posting, the estimated gross annual base salary range for this position in Italy is between 31,200 € and 43,000 € annually. This range is intended as a guideline. Actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, and specific business or organizational needs. This position falls under the applicable National Collective Labour Agreement (Metalmeccanica Industria). Where relevant, the total compensation package may also include additional elements such as annual incentive opportunities and/or equity, along with a competitive benefits package.
