Job Description: Junior Project Manager
Position Objective
Provide project management support and administrative coordination for construction. Manage project execution from initiation through closeout, ensuring successful delivery within schedule and budget parameters while maintaining quality standards, coordinating stakeholders, and supporting documentation and compliance processes.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Execution
- Assume responsibility for initiating, designing, planning, controlling, executing, monitoring, and closing projects from concept through completion.
- Maintain strict control of project scope, costs, and schedule timelines, implementing corrective actions proactively to minimize deviations and impacts.
- Coordinate all project activities between clients, IT teams, consultants, architects, contractors, and external vendors to ensure seamless execution.
- Monitor project progress against established schedules and budgets, providing meeting minutes, regular status updates and identifying potential delays or cost overruns.
- Take direct action and support to address risks, technical difficulties, or obstacles that could impact project delivery or quality.
Stakeholder Coordination & Communication
- Participate in weekly client meetings, presenting project status, addressing concerns, and aligning on priorities and deliverables.
- Serve as primary liaison coordinating communication and activities across multiple stakeholder groups including clients, technical teams, and service providers.
- Ensure full compliance with project objectives through proper structuring and implementation of management processes, reporting mechanisms, and adequate controls.
Construction Oversight & Quality Assurance
- Supervise construction activities and supplier integration, ensuring adherence to specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Conduct site visits to monitor construction work progress, verify quality standards, and ensure uniformity of processes and general conduct.
- Ensure compliance with client hiring policies, transparency requirements, and procurement procedures throughout project lifecycle.
Financial & Contract Management
- Support preparation of cost estimates, quotations, and purchasing recommendations for materials, services, and contractor engagement.
- Review and approve supplier negotiations and provide recommendations to clients regarding contractor selection and contract terms.
- Process and track payments, invoicing, and contract documentation in accordance with client policies and project budgets.
- Conduct value engineering processes to guarantee optimal cost-benefit outcomes within approved budget parameters.
Risk & Documentation Management
- Implement risk management and mitigation strategies, identifying potential issues and developing contingency plans to protect project outcomes.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation including contracts, policies, schedules, progress reports, and closeout materials.
- Develop project charts, schedules, and tracking tools to support effective monitoring and stakeholder communication.
- Coordinate technical team hiring and commissioning processes, ensuring proper onboarding and resource allocation.
Position Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering (Civil, Industrial, or related discipline). Architecture background strongly preferred for this role.
- Experience: 1-3 years of hands-on experience in project management, preferably supporting construction, facilities, or corporate real estate projects with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders.
- Languages: Bilingual – Spanish and English (advanced-fluent), capable of conducting client meetings, preparing technical documentation, and communicating effectively with international stakeholders in both languages.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in project management methodologies, scheduling tools, cost estimation, and construction documentation. Understanding of architectural standards, building codes, and construction processes.
Desired Skills
- Experience with project management software (MS Project).
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes and coordination workflows.
- Knowledge of local building codes, construction regulations, and permitting processes in Colombia.
- Understanding of scalability, interoperability, and portability analysis for technical systems integration.
- PMP, CAPM, or similar project management certification (or in progress).
- Experience with facilities management, workplace projects, or corporate interior construction.
