About this role

LIC is a farmer-owned co-operative that’s been supporting herd improvement in New Zealand’s dairy sector for more than 115 years. We’re focused on providing superior genetics, reliable testing and diagnostics, integrated on-farm software, and great customer service, all designed to help farmers make smarter decisions every day.

As a proud generational co-operative, we’re here for farmers, their families, and rural communities, not just for today, but for the future. And none of it happens without our people. Whether on farm, in the lab, or behind the scenes, every one of us plays a part in helping New Zealand farmers succeed.

Your Role:

Join LIC's Key Accounts team and work with some of New Zealand's largest and most influential dairy businesses.

Reporting to the Senior Key Accounts Manager (SI), you'll build trusted partnerships with strategic farming clients, helping them maximise herd performance and farm profitability through LIC's industry-leading services and expertise.

As part of the NZ Markets team, you'll play a pivotal role in connecting customer needs with LIC's products, services, and innovation pipeline. You'll work across a broad network of experts and commercial teams to deliver value-driven solutions that strengthen customer relationships and drive long-term success for both farmers and LIC.

Your Key Focus:

  • Build trusted, long-term partnerships with key farming clients and industry influencers.

  • Understand customer goals and identify opportunities to create value through LIC products and services.

  • Analyse farm and herd data to deliver insights that improve herd performance and business outcomes.

  • Prepare and present herd improvement, reproduction, and genetic recommendations to large multi-herd operations.

  • Deliver innovative, commercially focused solutions across reproduction, herd improvement, farm systems, and young stock management.

  • Represent LIC at industry events, conferences, and stakeholder forums.

  • Navigate complex customer needs and contribute to key account retention and growth strategies.

  • Communicate performance results, industry insights, and service updates with confidence and credibility.

  • Collaborate with internal specialists and support teams to ensure exceptional customer outcomes.

  • Manage regular engagement across your customer portfolio while achieving revenue and growth targets.

Your Key Skills & Experience:

We're looking for a commercially minded relationship builder who can combine technical expertise with strategic thinking.

You'll bring:

  • Experience in consultancy, project management, leadership, account management, or a similar customer-focused role.

  • Strong relationship-building, influencing, and communication skills.

  • Practical dairy farming experience and a deep understanding of dairy systems and industry trends.

  • The ability to interpret data and translate complex information into practical recommendations for farmers.

  • A whole-farm perspective, with the ability to link herd improvement opportunities to commercial outcomes.

  • Confidence presenting insights and recommendations to farming businesses and industry stakeholders.

  • A tertiary qualification in agriculture, statistics, marketing, business, or a related field (preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of LIC's products, services, and the wider dairy industry.

In Return:

In addition to a competitive salary, company car and sales incentive, you'll receive some great benefits including:

  • Extra leave days

  • Flexible working options

  • Discounted health, life, income and disability insurances

  • Access to our employee shares scheme

  • Wellbeing discounts

  • Free onsite parking

This is an opportunity to work with some of New Zealand's most progressive dairy businesses, influence industry outcomes, and help shape the future of herd improvement. You'll join a passionate team, work alongside industry experts, and make a tangible impact on the success of our farmers and the dairy sector.
