About this role

SUMMARY

Perform tasks that require mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill or prior work experience.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Load and unload trucks, and other conveyances, move supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck, etc.
  • Stack materials for storage or binning, collect refuse and salvageable materials.
  • Dig, fill, and tamp earth excavations, level the ground using pick, shovel, tamper, and rake.
  • Shovel concrete and snow; clean culverts and ditches; cut trees and brush; operate power lawnmowers.
  • Move and arrange heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, and appliances.
  • Move heavy pieces of automotive, medical engineering, and other types of machinery and equipment.
  • Spread sand and salt on icy roads and walkways and pick up leaves and trash.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Flexibility in scheduling work hours and available for occasional travel.
  • One (1) year experience as a Laborer desired.

 

WORK SCHEDULE 

Full-time. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.

 

TRAVEL

The expected travel time is less than 25%.

 

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver’s license and be insurable on the company’s automobile insurance policy. Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving.  The expected driving time is less than 25%. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily performed outdoors but may also be performed in a maintenance facility as well as in outdoor military training areas.  Work is often performed in adverse conditions including inclement weather such as high humidity, heat, cold, high wind, rain, and various local conditions. Our mission is to train US Marines; therefore, we work side by side with them in all climates and conditions.  Employee may be exposed to sharp objects and may be exposed to some heat, loud noise, chemicals, lead, and vibration. Katmai strictly adheres to the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) regulations. Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory if applicable. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position consists of standing for long periods of time, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, seeing up close, and lifting boxes weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequently uses hands/fingers for handling, to work with such hand tools as lawn equipment, outdoor tools, shovels, wrenches, screwdrivers, wire cutters, pliers, and soldering irons.
