The LATAM Technical Associate Director – Swine is a member of the Global Swine Business Unit. This unit sets the strategic direction for the Swine Business Worldwide and must also ensure alignment with this strategy across all functions within the organization. 

 

The main objective of this position is to provide specialized, high-level regional veterinary technical leadership to local companies’ technical, marketing, and commercial teams across LATAM. The role ensures effective deployment of technical strategies throughout the product lifecycle to achieve annual and strategic business goals. 

 

The LATAM Technical Associate Director will work closely with LATAM Regional Leadership, Global Marketing, and Global Technical Directors to ensure alignment on execution of technical solution strategies, while adapting them to regional market needs. 

 

This role requires strong matrix leadership and influence, partnering with marketing, sales, and country organizations to translate technical value into customer impact and business results. The position also demands close engagement with customers, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and industry stakeholders to support innovation and scientific leadership. 

 

The nature of this role requires flexibility to travel as needed to fulfill responsibilities (~50% regional travel). 

Essential Accountabilities: 

The responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Define, establish, and update technical platforms for new and existing products and services to ensure the best quality technical information is available for local markets and aligned with global strategic and operational needs  

  • Adapt and deploy global technical strategies into region-specific initiatives aligned with LATAM priorities, ensuring strong execution and impact 

  • Actively participate in the formulation of the company’s long-term global product development strategy while representing regional needs and customer insights 

  • Contribute to achievement of regional business objectives, partnering with marketing and commercial teams to translate technical value into customer adoption 

  • Generate written technical information for publication or oral presentation at meetings at various levels, enhancing scientific credibility  

  • Manage the internal abstract review and submission process for key regional conferences 

  • Provide regional expert technical representation at relevant meetings, congresses, and exhibitions to promote the company’s scientific leadership 

  • Initiate, manage, and maintain strong technical relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, academics, integrators, and key customers across LATAM 

  • Ensure all regional technical communication is fully aligned with global technical platforms and product positioning 

  • Maintain awareness of competitor products, emerging trends, and technical developments, and communicate insights to global and local stakeholders 

  • Provide high-quality regional customer technical support, directly or through local teams, maximizing customer value 

  • Assist and guide local companies in designing and implementing trials to ensure compliance with global technical and regulatory requirements 

  • Identify unmet needs and translate them into actionable inputs for R&D, supporting innovation and portfolio development 

  • Lead and influence regional and local technical teams in a matrix environment, driving capability building and fostering a collaborative and customer-centric culture 

Scope and Context: 

This position is based in a LATAM strategic market within the Region and will report to the Swine Regional Director – LATAM. Relocation is not required but may be supported if desired. 

The role operates across a highly diverse region with varying levels of market maturity, production systems, and customer needs. 

Success in this role requires the ability to:

Minimum Qualifications: 

Background & Education:   Minimum DVM. A MSc and/or PhD or equivalent are desirable.  Minimum 8 years’ experience in the Animal Health Industry and/or Swine production or Academia.  

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in Swine Animal Health, production, or academia 

  • Previous technical advisory experience in an animal health company or related industry is desirable 

  • Strong understanding of Biologicals industry preferred 

  • Proven experience in regional or multi-country roles within LATAM 

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix environment, influencing stakeholders without direct authority 

  • Strong business acumen and customer orientation, with ability to translate science into customer value 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and intercultural skills 

  • Strong project management and strategic thinking capabilities 

  • Experience working in multicultural environments and cross-functional teams 

  • Full proficiency in spoken and written English 

  • Spanish required; Portuguese strongly preferred 

  • Availability to travel approximately 50% regionally 

  • Self-starter with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
