About the role
The Lead Factoring Analyst is accountable for leading specialist factoring analysis and control activities for the supported portfolio within FBT Finance. The role ensures the accurate preparation, validation and maintenance of factoring limit data, supports customer credit assessment processes, and provides expert guidance on factoring-related controls, reporting and issue resolution. The position combines technical expertise, operational leadership, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement, while ensuring compliance with bp credit governance, Delegation of Authority and relevant process requirements.
In this role You will
Factoring Limit Management & Analysis
- Lead the preparation, validation and maintenance of factoring limit files for the supported portfolio, ensuring customer-level limits are complete, accurate and aligned to approved credit data.
- Review factoring limits by company code, customer, payer, sold-to, bank and currency, identifying duplication, mismatches or inconsistencies that require correction or escalation.
- Ensure the accurate differentiation and aggregation of factoring limits where multiple portfolios, banks or customer relationships exist.
- Maintain strong data integrity by reconciling factoring files to the relevant CAT, SAP PRL and credit assessment inputs before updates are finalised.
Credit Risk, Governance & Controls
- Support the credit assessment process by ensuring factoring-related data is reliable, traceable and aligned to approved credit limits and risk ratings.
- Operate within bp credit policies, Delegation of Authority, internal control requirements and applicable process documentation.
- Identify control gaps, data quality issues or policy exceptions and raise material risks to the Credit Service Manager, Credit Manager, Team Lead or relevant stakeholders (Treasury).
- Maintain appropriate evidence, audit trail and analytical backup for factoring limit updates and related credit activities.
Operational Excellence & Reporting
- Deliver factoring-related updates, reports and analysis within agreed deadlines and quality standards.
- Supervise recurring issues, trends and exceptions; propose corrective actions to reduce manual rework and improve first-time-right delivery.
- Coordinate BAU priorities, support workload planning and provide hands-on guidance to analyst / relevant stakeholders during periodic cycles.
- Contribute to period-end, quarterly and ad hoc reporting activities where factoring data has an impact on credit exposure, limits or working capital management.
Stakeholder & Business Partnering
- Build effective working relationships with Credit, Commercial, Sales, Finance, Customer Service, banking and process stakeholders as appropriate.
- Act as a subject matter expert for factoring-related queries, explaining data logic, assumptions, issues and required actions clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Support advised business decisions by providing accurate analysis, clear commentary and timely issue of factoring-related risks or blockers.
- Promote clear ownership between FBT and business stakeholders for factoring data maintenance, issue resolution and process adherence.
Systems, Process Improvement & Change
- Maintain strong solid understanding of relevant tools and data sources, including Microsoft Office applications, SAP PRL and credit or CAT-related files.
- Find opportunities to standardise, simplify and automate factoring file preparation, reconciliation and reporting activities.
- Support process transitions, knowledge transfer, system changes and continuous improvement initiatives impacting factoring or credit limit data.
- Document process updates and contribute to job aids or knowledge management materials to ensure service continuity and consistent execution.
Technical Leadership & Capability Building
- Provide technical coaching and review support to analysts handling factoring or related credit data activities.
- Share guidelines on data validation, reconciliation, stakeholder management and control rigor.
- Contribute to team capability development by supporting training, backup planning and cross-skilling in the factoring process.
- Demonstrate bp values and behaviours by fostering collaboration, inclusive ways of working and a continuous improvement attitude.
What You will need to be successful
- University degree or equivalent experience in Economics, Finance, Business, or a related field
- Significant experience in credit management, credit analysis, factoring, trade finance, Order to Cash or a closely related finance operations area.
- Strong understanding of customer credit risk, credit limits, exposure management and working capital implications.
- Sophisticated Excel skills, including confident handling of large data sets, reconciliations, control checks and tight deadlines.
- Experience working with ERP or credit systems (TMS); SAP PRL or similar customer master / credit data knowledge is advantageous.
- High Proficiency of Excel.
- Ability to interpret sophisticated data, identify inconsistencies and convert findings into clear actions and stakeholder messages.
- Proven track record to lead workstreams, coordinate priorities and provide technical guidance without requiring close supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in business English.
- High level of accuracy, ownership, risk awareness and ability to meet deadlines in a sophisticated international environment.
- Experience in Downstream, Lubes, or B2B customer environments
- Exposure to trade finance or long‑term commercial investment structures
- Project or transition experience within shared or global service organisations
