Iron Mountain is seeking an innovative Lead Platform Engineer — Platform Development to join our Enterprise Information Technology team.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of our internal developer experience by architecting and evolving our Backstage-based developer platform. As a hands-on technical leader, your expertise will directly empower our engineering teams to build, deploy, and scale modern cloud workloads with speed, security, and autonomy. You will bridge strategic platform direction with daily coding, driving engineering excellence across our modern technology stack.
What You’ll Do:
Lead the technical architecture of our Internal Developer Platform (IDP) and Kubernetes ecosystems by authoring Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
Contribute directly to the platform codebase (50%+ hands-on) utilizing Python, Go, or TypeScript.
Explore and integrate Generative AI capabilities, such as automated troubleshooting agents and LLM-driven coding guardrails, to boost developer productivity.
Partner with Product Owners to create Golden Path templates, reducing cognitive load and simplifying deployment pipelines.
Mentor and elevate team members through architectural deep-dives, code reviews, and progressive adoption of GitOps deployment models.
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Advanced English skills.
7+ years of experience in a technical role, with at least 2–4 years acting as a technical lead on complex engineering initiatives.
Strong knowledge of Python, Go, or TypeScript/Node.js.
Expert-level proficiency with Kubernetes (EKS/AKS/GKE) and public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Hands-on experience building REST APIs, integrating GitOps tooling (e.g., ArgoCD), and automating security controls with Akeyless or HashiCorp Vault.
