Advertised Salary: $14.00 - $14.49  
Summary of Position:

University Recreation is seeking responsible and dedicated individuals to join our team as Lifeguards for the Student Recreation Center pool and hot tub Lifeguards are essential for ensuring the safety and well-being of all pool patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies, enforcing pool rules, and providing excellent customer service.

 
Position Requirements:
  • Current Lifeguard certification from a recognized agency (e.g., American Red Cross, YMCA) or the ability to obtain one within 2 months of being hired.
  • UREC will also provide certification courses depending on the need.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain.
  • Must be confident in swimming skills and able to assist others.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • 1 lifeguard for every 75 people
  • Lifeguards meet the following
    • Swimmer & competent in lifeguard techniques
    • Satisfactorily completed recognized courses in CPR 2-person
    • Satisfactorily completed lifeguard training
    • Ensure proper supervision
    • Authority to enforce rules and sanitation
 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Monitor pool activities to identify potential hazards or risky behaviors.
  • Respond to emergencies, including performing water rescues and administering first aid/CPR as needed.
  • Enforce all pool rules and regulations consistently and fairly.
  • Educate patrons on pool safety and proper pool behavior.
  • Inspect pool area, equipment, and facilities regularly to ensure they are clean and safe.
  • Greet and interact with pool patrons in a friendly and professional manner.
