Job Summary
The Manager, SAP Business Systems serves as the business owner for NineDot Energy's SAP S/4HANA environment, partnering with Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, and other business teams to ensure our ERP platform effectively supports the company's continued growth.
This role manages the relationship with NineDot’s SAP managed services provider, oversees system enhancements and governance, and drives continuous improvement across financial and operational processes.. The ideal candidate combines strong business process knowledge with ERP expertise and is comfortable translating business needs into scalable system solutions while managing external vendors and cross-functional stakeholders.
This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills. The position is intended for a functional SAP leader rather than a technical developer or administrator, performing routine business-owned system administration while leveraging external technical experts for complex configuration and development.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the business owner and primary administrator for NineDot's SAP S/4HANA platform, overseeing day-to-day operations, business-owned configuration, and master data.
- Partner with business stakeholders to define priorities, optimize SAP capabilities, and develop the SAP roadmap aligned with business objectives.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications and manage implementation partners, MSP relationships, support, enhancements, and project delivery.
- Lead SAP projects from requirements through deployment, including UAT, release planning, cross-system integration testing, and production deployments.
- Drive continuous improvement through process standardization, automation, documentation, and enhanced SAP functionality.
- Troubleshoot functional issues, resolve routine requests, escalate complex issues as needed, and build internal SAP expertise to reduce reliance on external consultants.
- Partner with IT to manage security, user access, governance, data integrity, internal controls, and audit support.
- Develop training materials, support end-user adoption, promote SAP best practices, and serve as the primary point of contact for business users.

Required education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience supporting or managing enterprise ERP systems, including significant experience with SAP S/4HANA. Public cloud expertise preferred.
- Strong understanding of finance, accounting, procurement, and other core business processes supported by SAP.
- Experience managing third-party implementation partners and managed service providers.
- Demonstrated experience leading ERP implementations, upgrades, releases, or enhancement projects.
- Hands-on experience serving as an SAP power user or functional administrator, including maintaining business-owned master data, performing routine SAP administration, troubleshooting functional issues, and recognizing when technical configuration or development support is required.
- Ability to prioritize competing business requests and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience working in a growing, fast-paced organization is preferred.
- SAP certification is a plus but not required.
Preferred experience:
- Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA public cloud in a finance-centric environment.
- Familiarity with renewable energy, infrastructure, construction, or project-based businesses.
- Knowledge of SOX, audit controls, and ERP governance best practices.
