Manager, Software Engineering
Overview
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of software, data, and platform engineers, and data scientists responsible for delivering innovative solutions that support Mastercard's Marketing Services business. You will combine strong technical leadership with people leadership to drive engineering excellence, platform modernization, operational resiliency, and business outcomes.
You will partner closely with Product, Analytics, Data Science, BizOps/SRE, Architecture, Security, and Marketing stakeholders to deliver scalable and resilient platforms that support campaign measurement, marketing intelligence, customer acquisition, engagement, and optimization capabilities.
This role requires a leader who can balance technical depth, execution excellence, strategic thinking, and talent development while fostering a high-performing engineering culture.

Leadership & Talent Development
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of software engineers, data engineers, AI engineers, data scientists, and technical leads.
• Create an environment that attracts, retains, and develops top engineering talent.
• Drive goal setting, career development, performance management, and succession planning.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Champion Mastercard Way behaviors and engineering best practices across the organization.
Technology Leadership
• Provide technical leadership and guidance across application, platform, and data engineering initiatives.
• Drive architecture discussions and technology decisions that improve scalability, resilience, maintainability, and performance.
• Review designs, code, and technical approaches to ensure adherence to Mastercard standards.
• Support modernization efforts including cloud adoption, automation, CI/CD, observability, and platform engineering practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to business challenges.
Delivery & Execution
• Own delivery of engineering initiatives from planning through production deployment.
• Manage priorities across multiple workstreams while balancing business commitments, technical debt, platform investments, and operational needs.
• Ensure solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and with a high level of quality.
• Drive Agile delivery practices and continuous improvement across engineering teams.
• Partner with Product and Business stakeholders to align technology investments with strategic objectives.
Platform Ownership & Operational Excellence
• Ensure availability, performance, security, scalability, and operational readiness of MST platforms.
• Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement activities.
• Promote automation and self-service capabilities to improve developer productivity and operational efficiency.
• Drive observability, resiliency, and reliability best practices across platforms and services.
• Ensure compliance with Mastercard security, privacy, audit, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Technical Experience
• Demonstrated experience leading software engineering teams in a cloud-native environment.
• Strong understanding of:
o Software Architecture
o System Design
o API Development
o Microservices
o Distributed Systems
o Data Engineering and Analytics Platforms
o CI/CD and DevOps Practices
o Observability and Reliability Engineering
o Security and Secure Development Practices
Leadership Experience
• Experience managing software engineering teams delivering enterprise-scale solutions.
• Proven ability to balance people leadership, technical leadership, and program delivery.
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills with a passion for developing future leaders.
• Ability to build strong partnerships across technical and business organizations.
Preferred Experience
• Experience with marketing technology, analytics platforms, campaign measurement, or customer engagement technologies.
• Experience leading modernization or cloud migration programs.
• Experience with large-scale data processing and analytics ecosystems.
• Experience working in highly regulated, global enterprise environments.
