[What the role is]
You will work closely with management, supervisors and staff to ensure compliance with workplace safety and health requirements while fostering a proactive and positive safety culture. You will lead initiatives that identify and mitigate workplace risks, investigate incidents, strengthen emergency preparedness, and continuously improve safety performance across the organisation.[What you will be working on]
• Assist Management in fulfilling statutory obligations under the Workplace Safety & Health Act and its subsidiary legislation
• Identify workplace safety and health hazards, assess associated risks, and recommend appropriate risk control measures to prevent injuries, occupational illnesses, and dangerous occurrences
• Develop, implement and review workplace safety and health policies, procedures, programmes and safe work practices to support WSH Management System.
• Conduct safety inspections, audits and workplace assessments to monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and organisational standards.
• Lead or participate in the investigation of workplace accidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and occupational diseases, and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Facilitate and review risk assessments for laboratory, operational and project activities, ensuring that adequate controls are implemented prior to commencement of work.
• Advise management, supervisors and staff on WSH requirements, hazard controls and best safety practices.
• Coordinate safety training, awareness programmes and safety campaigns to strengthen safety competency and promote a positive safety culture within the organisation.
• Monitor statutory inspections, medical surveillance programmes, toxic substance monitoring and other organisation-related initiatives required under regulatory frameworks.
• Support the organisation's Emergency Preparedness, Fire Safety and Biosafety programmes, including emergency exercises, drills and business continuity initiatives.
• Serve as the secretariat or technical advisor to safety committees and working groups and prepare reports, performance statistics and management updates on safety matters.
• Investigate and report instances of safety non-compliance and recommend appropriate interventions to address unsafe conditions or practices.
[What we are looking for]
Background in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Science, Environmental Health, Risk Management or related discipline AND preferably one or more of the followings:
- Registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) with MOM Singapore
- Fire Safety Manager (FSM)
- ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 Auditor
- Professional Bio-risk Management Certification or equivalent
