Title and Summary
Marketing Director (12-Month FTC)
We are seeking an experienced, commercially minded and highly collaborative Marketing Director to join Mastercard’s Australia Marketing team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
The role will initially lead the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns, sponsorship activations and go-to-market initiatives across Mastercard’s consumer and customer portfolio. As the contract progresses, it will transition into a parental leave cover position within the Consumer Marketing & Sponsorships team, assuming broader responsibility for consumer marketing strategy, sponsorship portfolio leadership, team management and stewardship of the Priceless platform.
The successful candidate will bring a blend of strategic thinking and operational excellence, with experience delivering large-scale campaigns, sponsorship activations, customer engagement programs and product commercialization initiatives. They will be comfortable navigating a highly matrixed environment and partnering across Sales, Product, Services, Communications, B2B Marketing and regional and global teams to drive business and brand outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Sponsorship Strategy, Activation & Hospitality
• Lead Mastercard's sponsorship strategy and activation agenda across Australia and New Zealand, including the Australian Open and Mastercard's partnership with the McLaren Formula 1 Team.
• Deliver integrated sponsorship programs, activations and experiences that drive consumer engagement, customer value and business outcomes.
• Leverage sponsorship assets to support issuer objectives, executive engagement, customer hospitality and relationship growth.
• Support the evaluation and acquisition of future sponsorship opportunities.
Consumer Marketing & Campaign Leadership
• Lead the development and execution of integrated consumer marketing campaigns that strengthen brand preference, drive engagement and deliver measurable business outcomes.
• Deliver campaigns across paid, owned and earned channels, aligned to Mastercard's global and regional priorities.
• Partner with agencies and internal stakeholders to ensure best-in-class execution and marketing effectiveness.
• Work closely with Communications teams to amplify major campaigns and sponsorship moments.
Product Launches, Commercialization & Performance Marketing
• Partner with Product and Services teams to bring new products, services and innovations to market.
• Develop go-to-market strategies and commercialization programs that drive adoption, usage and business growth.
• Translate complex product propositions into compelling customer and consumer narratives.
• Establish measurement frameworks that connect marketing activity to business outcomes.
Digital Marketing & Innovation
• Lead digital marketing strategy across consumer and customer touchpoints.
• Drive innovation across digital, content, social, search and AI-enabled marketing capabilities.
• Leverage data, testing and emerging technologies to improve marketing effectiveness and performance.
Priceless Platform Leadership
• Lead the ongoing management and evolution of Mastercard's Priceless platform across Australia and New Zealand.
• Develop experiences, offers and content that increase engagement and strengthen brand differentiation.
• Partner with regional and global teams to expand the platform's relevance and impact locally.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing marketing team.
• Build strong relationships across local, regional and global stakeholders.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across Marketing, Product, Services, Sales and Communications.
• Manage agency, vendor and partner relationships to ensure excellence in delivery.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
• Ensure all marketing activities comply with Mastercard's governance, legal, privacy, risk and compliance requirements.
• Maintain strong budget management, procurement and approval processes.
• Drive operational excellence through effective planning, project management and stakeholder alignment.
Experience & Qualifications
Required Experience
• Extensive experience in consumer, brand, sponsorship or integrated marketing.
• Demonstrated success leading major sponsorship activations and integrated marketing campaigns.
• Experience managing premium sports, entertainment or cultural partnerships.
• Strong digital and performance marketing experience.
• Experience launching and commercializing products, services or solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing capabilities within complex matrix organizations.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
Preferred Experience
• Experience within financial services, payments, technology or another regulated industry.
• Experience leveraging sponsorship investments to drive both consumer and customer outcomes.
• Experience working across regional and global organizations.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled marketing and modern marketing measurement frameworks.
