Mechanical Design Engineer
About this role
Ready to be part of something big? At KRUSH Labs, a privately owned R&D center, we push the boundaries of unmanned systems and advanced hardware. We’re building next-generation platforms that fuse resilient communications, AI-driven autonomy, and precision navigation, designed to perform in the most demanding real-world environments. Join us to tackle complex challenges, turn cutting-edge research into deployed technology, and help shape the future of autonomous systems!
In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and realization of innovative mechanical systems and components across a variety of projects. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment, collaborating closely with mechanical, electronics, software, and systems engineers to deliver robust and manufacturable solutions.
This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working on different projects simultaneously, thrives in a hands-on development environment, and is eager to broaden their technical expertise across multiple domains. In addition to your own design responsibilities, you will be expected to support cross-functional teams where needed and contribute to the successful delivery of project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate functional and system-level requirements into clear mechanical requirements, concepts, and detailed designs.
- Develop high-quality 3D CAD models and production-ready 2D drawings for parts and assemblies.
- Perform engineering analyses such as tolerance analysis, structural and thermal checks, and basic FEM where required.
- Select appropriate materials, surface treatments, and manufacturing processes based on performance, cost, and quality targets.
- Collaborate closely with electronic engineering teams to integrate mechanical designs with PCBs, wiring, connectors, sensors, actuators, and motors.
- Define mechanical clearances, grounding concepts, and thermal constraints for electronics-integrated designs.
- Support prototype builds, evaluation, and validation testing activities.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners, provide technical documentation, and support design and manufacturing reviews.
- Maintain BOMs, drawings, revision control, and release documentation in a structured and traceable manner.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, internal design guidelines, and engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Approximately 4–5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development within a high-tech or engineering environment.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g. NX, Creo, SolidWorks, or similar) and experience creating production-ready 2D drawings.
- Experience integrating mechanical components with electronic systems, including enclosures, connectors, thermal solutions, and tolerance management.
- Understanding mechanical–electrical interfaces and basic electronics or mechatronic systems (sensors, actuators, wiring, PCBs).
- Experience with IPx-rated designs for harsh or outdoor environments.
- Experience with tolerance analysis and basic FEM or similar analysis tools is a plus.
- Thermal design knowledge related to electronics, such as ventilation strategies, heat sinking, and material selection, is an advantage.
- Familiarity with DfM/DfA principles and collaboration with suppliers and manufacturing teams.
- Experience with integrated motor systems is considered an advantage.
Skills & Abilities Required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical engineering mindset.
- Hands-on approach and willingness to take ownership of technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable working across multiple projects and adapting to changing priorities.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn new technologies and methodologies.
- Organized and structured approach to documentation, planning, and follow-up.
- Team player with a willingness to support colleagues and contribute where needed to achieve project goals.
