Position primarily supports Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery in Suite 507 at St. Luke's. May support on occasion Structural Heart and Vascular Surgery at St. Luke's.

Clinic hours of operations Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, position will flex within the business hours. No holidays, weekends, or nights.

Pay Range:

$21.85 - $32.80

Summary:

Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistants must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions.

We’re Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. 
  • Must have a medical assistant diploma from accredited program recognized by the U.S. Dept of Education or be a certified MA with 2 years of full-time medical assistant experience, to qualify.
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience is preferred for this role.

What You’ll Do:

Schedule: Clinic hours of operations Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, position will flex within the business hours. No holidays, weekends, or nights.

As a Medical Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day. 

As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:

  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
  • Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

About This Location:

The Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic at the St. Luke’s Medical Center, located at 2801 W Kinnickinnic River Parkway in Suite 507, see patients requiring surgical evaluation, pre-operative optimization, and post-operative care for complex diseases of the heart, valves, and thoracic aorta such as aortic disorders, coronary artery disease, adult congenital heart defects or experiencing advanced heart failure.  This team of medical assistants may also, on occasion, support the Structural Heart and Vascular Surgery Clinics also located within the St. Luke’s medical offices.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance.  For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available.
  • Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case- by -case basis.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills. 
  • Will be exposed to the following hazards on a frequent basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids.  Will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed. 
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
