What You Will Do:

  • Support the Canadian AML Officer (CAMLO) and MLRO in fulfilling their obligations under applicable Canadian AML/ATF regulations, providing effective second line oversight of the firm's financial crime framework.
  • Provide independent review and challenge of high-risk cases, acting as an escalation point for Financial Crime Operations.
  • Exercise delegated authority to approve or reject complex and high-risk cases, ensuring decisions are risk-based, clearly documented, and aligned with regulatory expectations.
  • Support compliance with FINTRAC requirements, including obligations under the PCMLTFA and applicable Ministerial Directives.
  • Conduct analysis and compile management information to support thematic reviews, internal audits, regulatory examinations, and law enforcement enquiries.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of a robust financial crime governance framework, including preparation of materials and reporting for senior management and relevant governance committees.

What You Will Need:

  • 4+ years of Compliance, AML/ATF, Financial Crime, or Risk Management experience.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian AML/ATF regulations, FINTRAC requirements, and regulatory expectations in a regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of, or experience working with, FINTRAC Ministerial Directives and higher-risk jurisdiction requirements.
  • Strong risk assessment skills with the ability to make balanced, well-reasoned, and clearly documented decisions in complex or ambiguous scenarios.
  • Practical experience reviewing and approving cases involving higher-risk customers, including complex structures, PEPs, adverse media, sanctions exposure, high-risk jurisdictions, and crypto-related typologies.
  • Experience working with or assessing higher-risk customer types, including SMBs, Money Services Businesses (MSBs), exchanges, and other regulated financial entities.
  • Understanding of financial crime risks related to virtual assets, source of funds/source of wealth assessments, sanctions risk, and fraud typologies.
  • High attention to detail with clear, concise written articulation suitable for senior management and regulatory scrutiny.
  • Comfortable operating with delegated authority while recognising escalation thresholds.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a regulated environment.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Experience interacting with internal audit, regulators, or law enforcement enquiries.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Professional certification such as ACAMS, ICA, or equivalent.

The annual salary range for this position is €29,000.00-€48,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
