Leidos’ Defense Systems Mechanical Design & Analysis Department is seeking a Mobile Radar Mechanical Designer to join our team in Huntsville Alabama designing the next generation of sensors to protect America and its allies. You will perform mechanical design of the Army Long-range Persistent Surveillance-Mobile (ALPS-M) product.
As a member of the design team, you will use SolidWorks CAD software and Windchill PLM software daily to turn ideas into concepts, mature those designs, and create drawings for manufacturing and integration.
This role requires a strong technical contributor, proficient in applying mechanical design principles and modeling practices for sheet metal parts, machined components, welded structures, and bolted assemblies. You will be responsible for developing CAD designs and drawings that satisfy technical requirements through collaborating with other members of the mechanical design team.

Primary Responsibilities
Structural and enclosure design via Solidworks CAD software, drawing generation in accordance with ASME Y14.100 & Y14.5, and producing technical data packages in accordance with MIL-STD-31000
Basic Qualifications
Associates degree in Engineering Technology or Design and Drafting Technology or equivalent
2+ years of applicable experience - seeking to fill multiple roles from junior to senior level.
Strong SolidWorks user
Experience with drawing generation in accordance with ASME Y14.100 & Y14.5
Basic understanding and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack-up analysis
Strong attention-to-detail
Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and in team environments
Active DoD security clearance (or eligibility to obtain and maintain clearance)
Preferred Qualifications
Windchill PLM experience
Design and/or Integration experience in the following areas:
Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) and trailers
Mobile tactical equipment
Power generation
Mobile tactical equipment
Payload erector systems
Experience with large steel structures including welded structures, bolted assemblies, and machined parts
Experience with aluminum sheet metal parts, electronics racks and enclosures, and environmental control units
Experience with metal part finishes and coatings
