Summary

The Middle Years Programme (MYP) coordinator and staff are responsible for overseeing and coordinating the implementation of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (Grade 6 to Grade 10) within the school. This is a full-time position, with a primary focus on supporting the MYP curriculum and ensuring its effective delivery to students. The coordinator provides assistance to teachers and students regarding MYP certification although the support is extended to various stakeholders. The coordinator will support the Personal Project Coordinator regarding the implementation of and development of the personal project. The coordinator is the main point of contact with IBO.

Reporting

• The MYP coordinator will report to the principal and board team in meetings that occur regularly. The MYP coordinator will be required to:

Administration:

• Monitor and evaluate the delivery of the MYP curriculum, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.

• Make copies of relevant IB MYP publications available to all staff.

• Serve as a liaison between our institution and the IB organization, ensuring compliance with IB policies and regulations.

• Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and professional development activities related to the MYP curriculum.

• Coordinate administrative tasks related to MYP authorization and evaluation processes.

• Manage documentation and reporting requirements associated with the IB MYP.

• Support teachers and students in the delivery of the MYP.

• Work closely with the head of school in the day-to-day management of MYP.

• Support in the provision of facilities for student safety and educational support.

• Prepare and submit documentation required for authorization and evaluation of the MYP.

• Follows all Board policies, state laws, and regulations.

• Review current educational resources, from national and international sources, to inform the ongoing.

• Development of the programme so as to ensure its quality and relevance.

• Ensures that students comply with the requirements for eAssessment (if administered) and personal.

• Project in MYP year 5.

Curriculum:

• Develop and implement strategies to effectively implement the IB MYP curriculum within the institution.

• Collaborate with staff to plan and organize the MYP curriculum, ensuring adherence to IB standards and requirements.

• Stay updated with the latest developments in IB MYP curriculum and assessment practices.

• Work closely with the academic team to review and revise the MYP curriculum, aligning it with our institution's educational goals and IB standards.

• Facilitate professional development opportunities for teachers, enhancing their understanding and implementation of the MYP curriculum.

• Oversee the assessment and reporting processes for the MYP curriculum.

• Ensure that assessment strategies align with IB MYP guidelines and standards.

• Collaborate with teachers to develop effective assessment tasks and tools, measuring student progress and achievement accurately.

• Ensures the concept of international mindedness permeates all subjects.

Professional Development:

• Identify the professional development needs of teachers related to the MYP curriculum.

• Facilitate and support ongoing professional development opportunities for teachers to enhance their understanding and implementation of the MYP curriculum.

• Stay updated on research and best practices in IB education and share relevant information with teachers and staff.

• Encourage a culture of continuous learning and improvement among staff members.

• Support individual teachers in their classrooms.

• Keep a record of workshop attendance and school visits.

• Lead the orientation of new teachers into the MYP.

Resource Management

• Assist the heads of school in identifying resource needs.

• Advise the head of school on teaching materials that will be needed by the teachers in order to successfully teach the MYP.

• Establish an inventory of resources to facilitate efficient management.

Communication

• Foster effective communication and collaboration among teachers, administrators, students, and parents regarding the MYP curriculum and related matters.

• Act as a point of contact for inquiries and concerns related to the MYP curriculum.

• Provide regular updates and information to stakeholders about MYP-related initiatives, events, and requirements.

• Collaborate with other coordinators and administrators to ensure coherence and alignment across different programs and grade levels.

Evaluation

• The MYP coordinator’s professional evaluation will be undertaken by the head of the school and mediated by the owners.

The coordinator will be attributed:
