This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting the Defense Information System Network (DISN) in direct support of U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) and the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).

Your Opportunity:

Are you interested in learning how a global network supports critical military operations? As a member of our MacDill AFB team, you will be embedded directly with the engineers and analysts who manage the day-to-day health and performance of the DISN. You will gain exposure to a wide range of technologies and learn how our teams ensure the reliability of vital communication networks for the DoD.

What You’ll Do (Potential Projects & Learning Opportunities):

  • Assist senior engineers with functional analysis of network data and designs.
  • Learn how to convert customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Shadow the team to understand how they perform troubleshooting and fault analysis.
  • Gain exposure to a variety of operational areas, including Network Engineering, Network Operations, and Unified Capabilities (voice and video).
  • Assist with customer provisioning and the phase-out of legacy technology.
  • Help create documentation and collect metrics for government reporting.

What You’ll Bring (Required):

  • Citizenship & Clearance: Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Education: Currently pursuing a degree in a relevant field such as Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Network Engineering.
  • Technical Foundation: A foundational understanding of IT principles, basic programming logic, and networking concepts (e.g., OSI Model, TCP/IP).
  • Analytical Mindset: A strong desire to learn, keen attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Teamwork: A collaborative attitude with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Location: This internship is based on-site at MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL. All work must be performed on site.

What We Want (Desired):

  • Certifications: Obtaining a CompTIA Security+ certification (or any certification that aligns with DoD 8570 IAT Level II) before the start date is strongly encouraged.
  • Hands-On Experience: Experience from home labs, class projects, or prior internships involving networking, scripting, or data analysis.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Basic scripting (e.g., Python, Bash).
    • Using ITSM or ticketing systems.
    • Unix/Linux environments.
