Job Description

Patient Intake and Registration • Processes new patient requests and referrals • Completes pre-registration and verifies demographic, insurance, and guardianship information • Obtains and documents required consent forms, releases, and authorizations • Accurately registers patients in the hospital’s electronic systems (Epic/SHCIS) • Upholds confidentiality, integrity, and the mission/values of the hospital system DISCUSSION DRAFT Communication • Greets and directs patients and families in a professional, compassionate manner • Responds promptly to phone calls, messages, and scheduling inquiries • Provides timely updates and assistance to patients, families, physicians, and external partners • Upholds HIPAA standards in all communications Administrative/Operational Tasks • Schedules for new patient clinic visits, follow-ups, rehabilitation admissions, and ancillary testing • Coordinates inpatient admissions, verifies bed availability, and assists families during checkin/out • Manages cancellations, no-shows, and rescheduling efficiently • Communicates appointment details and reminders via phone, mail, or MyChart • Verifies patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to services. • Obtains pre-certifications and authorizations when required �� Maintains verification worklists in EMR systems • Identifies uninsured patients and provide financial counseling, assisting with applications for external resources • Assembles and updates patient charts, scans documents, and maintains departmental files • Prepares reports, correspondence, and census data as required • Assists with departmental mail, supplies, and routine office tasks Professional Development • Participates in performance improvement, staff meetings, and required training • Adheres to hospital policies, procedures, and service standards
Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
