Patient Care Technician (PCT) (CNA)

Per Diem Float Pool

Shift: Evening/Midnight 7:00pm-7:30am 12-hour shifts

Per Diem Position -Minimum commitment of 36 hours per month

Weekend requirements will be 24 hours per 4-week schedule period per the guideline of the department. Hard-to-fill” shifts are required in place of regular holidays.

Locations: Newark and Wilmington Rotation at both Campuses

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT)(CNA), you will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care, support patient comfort and safety, assist with mobility and activities of daily living, respond to patient needs, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

What to Expect:

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High school graduate or equivalent. 

Previous work experience or successful completion of Nurse Technician/Certified Nursing Assistant program.

  • Minimum of 2 years recent PCT/CNA experience preferred
  • Acute care hospital experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of basic nursing care provided for specific patient population of unit.

Knowledge of applicable departmental and unit specific policies, standards, guidelines, and protocols.

Ability to recognize changes in patient status and to take appropriate action.

Ability to communicate effectively utilizing verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to perform elementary math skills.

Ability to perform unit specific tasks as directed by RN.

Ability to perform applicable technical skills as outlined in procedures, guidelines, and policies.

Ability to follow standard precautions.

Ability to use appropriate safety measures for patients, employees and self.

Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.

Ability to respond to patient crisis situations under the direction of the RN and current practice guidelines.

Ability to exercise judgment, tact, and diplomacy.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

BLS certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, lift, push, pull, carry, teach, twist, handle, stoop, climb as per unit-based Physical Demands Checklist.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Frequent exposure to biological elements with occasional exposure to chemical and environmental elements as per unit-based Physical Demands Checklist.

Hourly Pay Range: $19.10 - $27.69

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
