Core Teaching Responsibilities
The post holder fulfils all responsibilities outlined in the relevant Music/Drama Teacher job description, including:
- Planning, teaching, and assessing high-quality Music or Drama lessons aligned with PYP and MYP expectations.
- Using inquiry-based and creative pedagogies that promote student engagement and agency.
- Differentiating learning to meet diverse student needs.
- Embedding Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills through performing arts.
- Maintaining high expectations for student achievement, behaviour, and wellbeing.
- Communicating effectively with parents and contributing to wider school life.
Whole School Performing Arts Leadership
The Performing Arts Lead will:
- Develop and implement a clear vision for Performing Arts across the school.
- Ensure coherence and progression in Music and Drama from PYP through MYP.
- Lead curriculum development, review, and documentation for Performing Arts.
- Promote high-quality teaching practices across the Performing Arts team.
- Support and mentor teachers delivering Music and Drama (where applicable).
- Monitor student participation and achievement in Performing Arts.
Productions, Events & Co-curricular Programme
The Performing Arts Lead will oversee and coordinate:
- Whole-school productions and major performances.
- Music concerts, showcases, and drama performances.
- Performing Arts contributions to key school events (assemblies, celebrations, ceremonies).
- Development of choirs, bands, ensembles, and drama clubs.
- Performance opportunities that promote student confidence, creativity, and agency.
The role includes establishing clear production timelines, rehearsal schedules, and quality expectations.
Operational & Event Management
- Lead planning and logistics for major Performing Arts events and productions.
- Ensure safeguarding and risk assessments are completed for rehearsals and performances.
- Manage Performing Arts budgets and resources where delegated.
- Coordinate use and development of performance spaces and equipment.
- Work with Marketing/Admissions to showcase Performing Arts within the school community.
Supporting ISP Learning First
The Performing Arts Lead supports ISP’s Learning First strategy by:
- Promoting evidence-informed creative pedagogy and student engagement.
- Supporting measurable impact in participation, skill development, and performance quality.
- Contributing to relevant priorities within the school’s Learning Improvement Plan (LIP).
- Using participation and achievement data to inform programme development.
Collaboration & Community Engagement
- Work closely with PYP and MYP Coordinators to ensure programme alignment.
- Collaborate with Homeroom and subject teachers to integrate performance opportunities.
- Build partnerships with external providers and artists where appropriate, including supporting the development of an extra-curricular music programme.
- Promote Performing Arts as a visible and valued part of school culture.

Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Drama, Performing Arts, Education, or related field.
- Recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching Music and/or Drama in a primary or secondary context.
- Experience directing performances or productions.
Preferred:
- Experience in an IB PYP and/or MYP school.
- Experience leading Performing Arts programmes.
- Experience managing large-scale school productions.
- Ability to contribute across both Music and Drama disciplines.
