Job Overview
We are looking for a CodeIgniter (CI) Developer with good knowledge of Core PHP fundamentals to contribute to a large-scale, long-term project. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with MVC architecture, relational databases, modern JavaScript, and should be capable of effectively using AI-powered development tools to improve productivity and code quality, along with exposure to server environments and deployments.
This role requires someone who can work independently, take ownership of assigned work, handle client communication confidently, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, continuously upgrade their skills, and leverage modern AI tools to enhance development efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze business requirements and collaborate with the Project Manager to implement effective technical solutions.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance backend applications using Core PHP and CodeIgniter following the MVC architecture.
- Work with MySQL databases to create and maintain efficient database structures.
- Develop and integrate basic RESTful APIs and third-party services as per project requirements.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues/bugs.
- Update and enhance existing application features while maintaining code quality and application stability.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following coding standards.
- Collaborate effectively with Design, QA, and Product teams to deliver project requirements.
- Communicate professionally with clients through chat and verbal discussions whenever required.
- Utilize AI-powered development tools to improve development productivity, debugging, and documentation.
- Stay updated with modern PHP technologies and continuously improve technical knowledge through self-learning and R&D.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Good knowledge of Core PHP fundamentals.
- Working experience with CodeIgniter (CI) and understanding of MVC architecture.
- Good knowledge of MySQL and relational database concepts.
- Good working knowledge of JavaScript.
- Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and third-party API integration.
- Experience with PHP image processing libraries such as GD and ImageMagick.
- Good debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of server environments, web hosting, and application deployment.
- Experience using Git for source code management.
- Experience using development tools such as VS Code, Chrome DevTools, Postman, and documentation tools.
- Ability to use AI-powered development tools (such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar) to improve development productivity, debugging, and documentation.
- Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and interact professionally with clients.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned tasks, and deliver quality solutions within timelines.
- Basic understanding of UI/UX principles to implement design requirements.
Additional / Good-to-Have Skills
- Min. 1.5 Years of relevant experience in CodeIgniter.
- Basic understanding of Laravel.
- Strong knowledge of MySQL, relational database design, and query optimization.
- Good to expert-level knowledge of JavaScript.
- Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating complex third-party services.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of server environments, web hosting, and application deployment.
- Knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, RDS, SQS, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
- Proficiency with Git and standard development workflows.
- Hands-on experience with modern development tools such as VS Code, PhpStorm, Chrome DevTools, Postman, and documentation tools.
- Ability to effectively leverage AI-powered development tools to improve development productivity, debugging, documentation, and code quality.
- Experience working on large-scale or high-traffic applications.
- Good understanding of UI/UX principles to collaborate effectively with designers.
- Knowledge of software design patterns and object-oriented programming best practices.
