Position Overview

Shaw Industries is searching for a Process Engineer in continuous dyeing to support the Department Manager in achieving a safe and efficient work environment through creative problem solving to drive process improvement and associate engagement in order to reach department goals in a fast paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities: 

  • The Process Engineer supports the Dyeing Manager to achieve department goals around safety, quality, cost, efficiency, and people.

  • The Process Engineer will be a leader within the department, making strategic decisions and engaging associates through trusting relationships providing direction and support with regard to achieving departmental goals and objectives. 

  • Develop and drive a strong safety culture to identify root causes in order to eliminate and minimize the probabilities of work-related injuries.

  • Track and monitor weekly department metrics such as off quality, efficiency, downtime, rework, maintenance spends and waste.   

  • Lead and coach supervisors and associates across three shifts by guiding them in current positions and assisting with career development and training

  • Act as liaison between the dyeing department and maintenance group by providing an effective line of communication with regard to work orders and areas of concern. 

  • Lead TPM, EIT and RPT cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, safety, and quality. 

  • Participate in daily roll audits and investigate dyeing related issues if presents, such as side match or shade.

  • Be a leader on the floor - developing relationships, building customer satisfaction, and initiating action with plant associates at all levels in order to improve safety, quality, and productivity

  • Monitor and track dyeing off quality defects to determine root cause, minimize recurrence and communicate trends to supervisors and associates.

  • Communicate with the scheduling department to ensure order promise dates are met and rush orders are prioritized efficiently.

  • Partner with R&D and technical group to coordinate trial runs to ensure dyeing formulas and shades meet final product specifications.

Requirements:

  • 4-year degree required

  • Strong quantitative & communication skills (Oral, written, & presentation to individuals & groups).

 

Preferred: 

  • Demonstrate a willingness and aptitude to complete Black Belt and Standard Work Training.

  • Degree in Engineering

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Understanding of computer software such as Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Minitab, etc.

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
