About this role

What Will You Do?

As we transition from being part of a larger parent organisation to becoming an independent UK business, procurement will play a pivotal role in enabling our future growth and success.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead the development and implementation of our procurement strategy during a period of significant transformation. You will be responsible for establishing a fit-for-purpose procurement function while managing the transition of supplier contracts, commercial agreements, and procurement processes required to support our standalone operating model.

Working closely with leaders across Operations, Sales, Marketing, Finance, IT, HR, Customer Service, and Support Services, you will act as a trusted commercial advisor, ensuring the business maximises value from supplier relationships, manages risk effectively, and secures the products and services needed to achieve its strategic objectives.

This is a unique opportunity to build a procurement function from the ground up, influence key business decisions, create long-term supplier partnerships, and make a lasting contribution to the future success of a newly independent organisation.

How Will You Do It?

Procurement Strategy & Business Partnership

  • Develop and implement a procurement strategy aligned with the organisation's commercial objectives and growth plans.
  • Partner with the Managing Director and leadership team to support business planning, investment decisions, and supplier strategies.
  • Establish procurement as a strategic business partner, ensuring early engagement in key projects and commercial decisions.
  • Drive a culture of commercial excellence, value creation, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Business Separation & Transformation

  • Lead all procurement activities associated with the transition to a standalone business, including contract novations, supplier transitions, renegotiations, and the onboarding of new suppliers.
  • Support the successful transfer and implementation of procurement processes, frameworks, and supplier arrangements.
  • Ensure continuity of supply and service throughout the separation programme while minimising commercial and operational risk.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to support transformation initiatives and drive organisational change.

Supplier Management & Commercial Excellence

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers to maximise performance, service quality, innovation, and value.
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations across multiple spend categories, securing favourable contractual and commercial outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate spend, leverage purchasing power, and deliver measurable cost savings and efficiencies.
  • Drive supplier innovation and identify new products, technologies, and partnerships that support business goals.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Establish procurement policies, governance frameworks, processes, and controls appropriate for an independent organisation.
  • Develop robust supplier risk management, contract management, and procurement compliance practices.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement frameworks that drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and supplier-related risks across the business.

Sourcing, Reporting & Performance Management

  • Lead sourcing activities, tender exercises, and RFI, RFQ, and RFP processes to support operational and strategic requirements.
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and develop effective sourcing and category strategies.
  • Provide meaningful procurement reporting, analytics, and performance metrics to the leadership team.
  • Use data and insights to drive informed decision-making and improve procurement outcomes.

What We're Looking For

Experience

  • Significant experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, commercial management, category management, or supplier relationship management.
  • Proven track record of leading complex commercial negotiations and managing high-value supplier relationships.
  • Experience operating within a transformational, fast-paced, or high-growth environment.
  • Experience supporting business separations, carve-outs, mergers, acquisitions, integrations, or large-scale transformation programmes would be highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated success in developing procurement functions, governance frameworks, policies, and ways of working.
  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders across multiple business functions.
  • Strong understanding of contract management, supplier performance management, procurement governance, and commercial risk.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance business needs, cost, quality, and risk.
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into practical execution.
  • Ability to combine long-term planning with hands-on delivery.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent project management and change leadership skills.
  • Comfortable engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Personal Attributes

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building, improving, and creating value.
  • Collaborative and relationship-focused, with a strong customer-centric approach.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a changing environment.
  • Proactive, curious, and solutions-oriented.
  • Results-driven with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
  • Passionate about helping the business achieve its strategic and commercial ambitions.

Qualifications

  • CIPS qualified or actively working towards a professional procurement qualification.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Commercial Management, or a related discipline desirable but not essential.

Why Join Us?

This is a rare opportunity to establish and shape the procurement function of an independent business at a pivotal moment in its journey.

As a direct report to the Managing Director, you will have significant visibility and influence across the organisation, helping shape commercial strategy, procurement capability, and supplier partnerships from the ground up.

You will play a critical role in creating the commercial foundations that support future growth, operational excellence, and long-term success. If you thrive on building functions, driving change, and making a meaningful impact, this role offers the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy within an ambitious and evolving business.
