About this role

About Us

MarketAxess is on a journey to digitally transform one of the world’s largest financial markets, enabling the shift from analog, phone-based trading to a fully electronic marketplace. Why does this matter? Because our platform makes trading fixed-income more accessible, ultimately improving transparency, efficiency, and competition in the marketplace. Changing the way an established industry transacts is no easy feat. There will be twists and turns, because no one’s ever done this before. But now, more than 2,000 clients around the world rely on our solutions, and that number is only expected to grow in the years ahead. We know where we’re going. How we get there is up to us. Join us and help Take Us There.

The Role

This Product Associate role sits within our core trading product team, focused on building the next generation of fixed income trading solutions for clients and dealers.

In this role, you will partner closely with the Product Manager to represent business priorities—helping to define and prioritize features, approve user stories, and maintain clear, consistent communication across stakeholders. You will own and manage the product backlog, creating and refining high-quality user stories that are actionable for the scrum team.

The Product Associate will also act as a representative of the scrum team when engaging with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and incorporating feedback into the product roadmap. This role plays a key part in driving change, championing new ideas, and aligning and motivating teams to deliver against shared objectives.

How You'll Help Take Us There

  • Learn quickly and become a subject matter expert in both fixed income trading and Agile culture, processes, practices and tooling.
  • Prioritize the backlog of work so that it best supports the execution of the product strategy - write, refine, and prioritize user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Work closely with Product Managers to ensure the delivery of coherent and consistently high-quality products delivered at pace.
  • Collaborate with engineering, UX, and business teams to ensure alignment on feature development and technical feasibility.
  • Work closely with developers and QA to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and validate feature completion.
  • Analyze user and market data for insight on what is driving client behavior. Use this data to produce insightful sales material that will drive product usage.
  • Define and track key product performance metrics, using data to drive continuous improvements.
  • Be comfortable show casing progress to large groups through demos and walkthroughs on topics such as client case studies, user feedback summaries, or product previews to demonstrate value and progress.
  • Support the head of product management in tracking business key performance indicators to measure product ROI/success.
  • Attend meetings with investor clients or dealers and provide product expertise.
  • Assess emerging AI technologies, market trends, and competitive offerings to inform product strategy and innovation roadmaps.

What We’re Looking for

  • 2+ years working in product, project or business analysis roles.
  • Strong experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and defining scope of work for development teams.
  • Demonstrable ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience in Agile delivery techniques, including sprint planning, backlog management, and iterative development.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive product decisions and improve performance.
  • Experience in financial services sector/fixed income.
  • Recent experience of OMS/EMS API integration with trading venues.
  • Fundamental understanding of database design, including working knowledge of SQL.
  • Exposure to API-driven development and technical product considerations.
  • Understanding of AI product development principles, including model evaluation, experimentation, user adoption, data quality, and responsible AI considerations.
  • Experience defining, delivering, or supporting AI-enabled product capabilities, including machine learning, generative AI, predictive analytics, intelligent automation, or data-driven decision support solutions.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted product development tools, data analytics platforms, or modern software delivery practices is a plus.
  • Experience with data-driven decision-making
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject
