About Mantra4Change
Mantra4Change is a non-profit organization working with governments to transform public education systems in India, so that millions of children can learn better, grow stronger, and thrive. We partner closely with state education departments to design and implement reforms at scale, strengthening leadership, governance, and classroom practice across public schools. Our work is grounded in the belief that lasting change happens when governments lead their own transformation.
Through long-term collaboration with institutions such as Samagra Shiksha, SCERTs and DIETs, Mantra4Change focuses on developing school leaders and system leaders, building collaborative school cultures, and engaging communities as partners in learning. By combining strong on-ground implementation with continuous learning, we help systems identify what works, scale it responsibly, and sustain improvement over time. Read more - www.mantra4change.org
About the Gaya Block Transformation Program (BTP)
We have been working closely with the education department of Bihar since 2021 to strengthen education leadership at various levels through collective action, leveraging technology to drive school improvement. Alongside our state-wide Project-Based Learning (PBL) work in the middle grades, we run a deeper district intervention in Gaya that provides governance and academic support to key stakeholders at the district, block, and complex levels.
Mantra4Change is now launching the Block Transformation Program (BTP), a four-year initiative to build a replicable model of quality education across three aspirational blocks in Gaya, covering close to 200 government middle schools. The program deepens Project-Based Learning in Grades 6 to 8 in math, science, and social subjects, and strengthens the whole block ecosystem, teachers, block and district officials, and parents, so that children in government schools learn better and develop both academic and holistic outcomes.
The program is built on a set of interdependent pillars: relevant, experience-based learning resources; effective parent and community engagement; clear KPIs for block, DIET, and district officials; teacher capacity building centred on classroom action; recognition as a design element; instructional support by education leaders; and strong review systems where what gets measured gets done.
About the Role
The Program Lead - Content and Training owns the two things the Block Transformation Program puts in a teacher's hands: the learning content and the training that makes it usable. The role designs and develops concept-anchored Project-Based Learning material for Grades 6 to 8 in math, science, and social subjects, mapped to NCERT competencies, and builds the training modules for teachers, Head Teachers, CRCCs, and Block Technical Teams that turn that material into classroom practice across close to 200 government middle schools.
Every session this role designs are built around a single question: what will the teacher do differently in the classroom the next day. The role works closely with DIET Gaya to build master trainer capacity, so that training is eventually delivered by the government system rather than by us. It suits someone with genuine classroom credibility, strong Hindi writing, and the discipline to revise content against what observation and assessment data actually show.
Roles and Responsibilities (but not limited to)
1. Content Design and Development
- Design and develop 8 to 10 PBL project units a year for Grades 6 to 8 in math, science, and social subjects, anchored in concepts and mapped to NCERT learning outcomes and NCF-SE 2023.
- Develop the supporting material each unit needs: teacher handbooks, student worksheets, driving questions, assessment rubrics, and end-product formats, written in Hindi first and classroom-ready.
- Design content that a teacher with limited preparation time and a crowded classroom can actually run, and test it in a real classroom before it goes to print.
2. Training Design
- Design differentiated training modules for teachers, Head Teachers, CRCCs, and Block Technical Teams, based on classroom needs and data insights rather than on a fixed annual calendar.
- Build every session around one classroom action, with modeling, guided practice, and a clear takeaway the participant will use the next day.
- Design need-based refresher content for delivery through Block Technical Teams between the main training rounds.
3. Training Delivery and Master Trainer Development
- Co-deliver training for teachers, Head Teachers, and CRCCs at DIET Gaya, and facilitate module development workshops with DIET faculty and SCERT resource persons.
- Build the capability of DIET faculty, master trainers, and Block Technical Teams to deliver the modules independently over time, and reduce our own delivery share each year.
- Support CRCCs and Head Teachers to run monthly learning circles at complex level where teachers solve real classroom problems together.
4. TLM, PBL Kits and STEM Libraries
- Specify the annual PBL kit and the school STEM library, and work with the team on procurement, distribution, and print-ready finalization of handbooks and TLM.
- Track actual usage of kits and libraries with the Monitoring and Evaluation lead, and redesign what is not being used.
5. Micro-Improvement Projects on DIKSHA
- Design and curate Micro-Improvement Projects on DIKSHA that map directly to the classroom gaps seen in observation data, and support teachers to submit them.
6. Content Quality and Government Alignment
- Ensure all content is academically accurate, age-appropriate, inclusive, and aligned to SCERT expectations, NEP 2020, NCF-SE 2023, and PARAKH middle-stage competencies.
- Run a review and approval loop with SCERT and DIET so that the material carries government ownership, not only our logo.
7. Using Evidence to Revise Content and Training
- Use classroom observation data from the Grade 6-8 Classroom Observation Tool, especially the Check for Understanding domain, along with student assessment results and training feedback, to revise modules and material each cycle.
- Visit schools regularly to see the content being used, and treat what happens in the classroom as the test of whether the design worked.
8. Showcase and Recognition
- Develop the formats and material for annual block and district PBL Melas and for Parent-Teacher Meetings that showcase student work, so that recognition is built into the design and not added at the end.
Experience & Competencies Required
- Must be fluent in English and Hindi. Strong Hindi content writing skills are essential as the content will be used in Hindi-medium government classrooms.
- A relevant master’s degree in education, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, or a related field is highly preferred.

- Must have good instructional design and facilitation skills, with the ability to write content that is easy for teachers to understand and use. Must have working knowledge of Google Workspace (G-Suite), Canva, DIKSHA, and basic AI-based tools.
