About this role

At Amazon, you'll work alongside the latest AI and GenAI tools that are increasingly woven into how teams operate: from AI-powered capabilities that accelerate decision-making, to Generative AI that helps you focus on work that truly matters. You'll have opportunities and resources to develop AI fluency at your own pace, with continuous learning built into the culture.

Amazon's Japan Last Mile (AMZL) Central Operations team is looking for a results-oriented Program Manager to join the Intra-week Planning (IWP) team. This role sits at the intersection of supply chain planning, operational execution, and cross-functional coordination. You will own end-to-end program management for intra-week planning mechanisms that drive delivery performance across the JP AMZL network.

The IWP team is responsible for short-horizon demand and capacity planning, ensuring the network meets customer promise while optimizing cost. As a Program Manager on this team, you will design, build, and continuously improve planning processes and mechanisms, partner with Science, Product, Finance, and field operations teams, and drive operational planning cycles that directly impact millions of customer deliveries.

Key job responsibilities
1. Supply Chain Planning & Forecasting: Own programs that improve intra-week demand forecasting accuracy and capacity allocation across the JP AMZL network. Translate forecasts into actionable operational plans.

2. Process Optimization: Identify inefficiencies in current planning workflows, design scalable solutions, and drive implementation. Establish mechanisms to sustain improvements over time.

3. Mechanism Building: Design and implement recurring operational mechanisms (WBRs, deep dives, escalation paths) that enable the team and stakeholders to inspect, learn, and act.

4. Cross-Organization Stakeholder Management: Serve as the connective tissue between field operations, central planning, science, product, and finance teams. Influence without authority to align priorities and drive outcomes.

5. Product Launches: Coordinate the planning and rollout of new products, tools, and process changes into the operational network. Manage launch readiness, risk mitigation, and post-launch validation.

6. Operational Planning Cycles: Drive team contributions to OP1/OP2, quarterly guidance (QxG), and other planning cycles. Develop narratives, define goals, build plans, and track commitments.

About the team
Your morning starts with reviewing the previous day's operational metrics — delivery performance, capacity utilization, and any misses that need immediate attention. From there, you move into the latest intra-week forecast outputs, checking where demand is trending versus plan and flagging gaps to the team. You join a stand-up with planners and field ops leads to align on today's capacity adjustments, then pivot to a deep dive on a recurring delivery performance miss you've been investigating. By mid-morning you're in a working session with the Science team, reviewing model accuracy metrics and scoping an improvement initiative.

After lunch, you lead a cross-functional sync with Product and Finance to finalize the rollout plan for a new planning tool launching next week — walking through the risk register, confirming readiness gates, and assigning last-mile owners. You spend the later afternoon building the narrative for the upcoming QxG review, pulling data from dashboards you've built to tell the story of the team's progress and where investment is needed next. Before wrapping up, you update your program tracker, respond to a few stakeholder questions on Slack, and prep the agenda for tomorrow's WBR.

No two days are exactly the same, but the rhythm is consistent: metrics, data, mechanisms, stakeholders, delivery.
