About this role

The Role

As part of an exciting company expansion project, Designer Group are seeking for a Project Director (Mechanical) to join our Operations team in our data centre business.

As PD you will provide leadership to project operations across various contracts that run concurrently across Europe. You will be responsible to ensure the projects are delivered on time, on budget, to the highest quality standards and exceeding our client's expectations. Your role will involve the management of senior project personnel, in the delivery of the contracts under your control. You will provide proactive management accountability, in line with the values of Designer Group.

Reporting to the Executive Director of DC the role, requirements and personal specifications for the position of Project Director are outlined below:

Key Operational Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Designer Group Quality, Safety, Environmental systems, policies, procedures, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Lead the operational delivery of DC Projects in Europe, managing site teams, standards, people management, and project execution from pre-construction through completion.
  • Develop and manage procurement strategies, schedules, subcontract/order packages, technical submittals, and contractor design deliverables.
  • Oversee planning, programming, forecasting, reporting, cost control, budgeting, value engineering, and financial performance of projects.
  • Manage design review, coordination, installation, commissioning, O&M closeout documentation, and ensure installations are fit for purpose and completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Supervise labour, materials, plant movement, site operations, and resource planning to maintain programme milestones and avoid delays or corrective actions.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders while maintaining accurate records and regular progress reporting.
  • Manage project variations, monthly valuations, commercial reporting, and successful project closeout to budgeted profit levels.
  • Attend and lead project/design/progress meetings, ensuring effective communication, coordination, and achievement of project deadlines and milestones.
  • Carry out any additional duties as directed in support of project and business requirements.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Related HNC, Degree or equivalent
  • 10+ Years relevant experience
  • Self-motivated with the ability to use initiative, prioritise workload, multitask, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to technical detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communicator with strong presentation and influencing skills.
  • Confident interacting and building professional relationships with all levels of staff, both on site and in the office.
  • Responsible, proactive, and positive with a strong “can do” attitude.
