Peter Lucas Project Management invests in people and the community to deliver gold-standard projects. We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Saskatoon team.
This is a Monday–Friday position based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, supporting projects across the mining, energy, and heavy industrial sectors.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and engineering coordination throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with client and organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Technical Oversight
- Serve as the technical lead during engineering and design and the primary technical contact during construction and commissioning.
- Manage engineering scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables in alignment with overall project objectives.
- Coordinate engineering resources across multiple disciplines to support project execution.
- Provide technical oversight and direction to internal engineering teams, designers, consultants, and contractors.
- Work closely with project, engineering, construction, procurement, operations, and site teams to ensure project requirements are aligned.
- Lead design reviews and technical meetings with clients, site personnel, consultants, and key stakeholders.
Engineering & Design Coordination
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering and design activities from concept through detailed design and execution.
- Review engineering deliverables, drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with external engineering consultants and vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery of engineering packages.
- Support procurement activities, including tender preparation, technical bid evaluations, vendor selection, and post-award technical support.
- Coordinate vendor design reviews, shop inspections, factory acceptance testing, and turnover documentation.
- Support project planning, estimates, material takeoffs, and capital funding requests.
Project Execution
- Monitor engineering progress and provide regular reporting on scope, schedule, budget, risks, and deliverables.
- Identify and resolve technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and safety expectations.
- Support construction planning, field execution, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Provide technical support during construction and commissioning and act as a key engineering point of contact for project teams.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, construction teams, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineering designation with APEGS eligibility/registration required.
- 4+ years of engineering experience in mining.
- Proven experience leading engineering activities for capital projects.
- Experience working through multiple phases of the project lifecycle, from engineering and design through construction and commissioning.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering and design teams.
- Experience coordinating engineering consultants, vendors, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of applicable engineering codes, standards, and safety requirements.
- Experience supporting procurement activities, including tender preparation, technical evaluations, and vendor reviews.
- Ability to manage engineering scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and project deliverables.
- Strong technical problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary project environment.
