We are looking for a hands-on Python Team Leader to lead a team of 5-6 developers within our Odin Development / Digital Foundation department. This role combines people leadership, agile delivery management, and active software development. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, PHP team leads, and Ops teams to ensure smooth delivery while supporting team growth and technical excellence.
What You'll Do
Team Leadership & People Management
Lead, mentor, and support a team of 5-6 developers
Conduct regular 1:1 meetings and provide ongoing feedback
Foster a positive, inclusive, and psychologically safe team environment
Support career development and learning plans
Monitor team wellbeing and workload, escalating concerns when needed
Agile Delivery & Process Management
Facilitate standups, sprint planning, and other agile ceremonies
Manage and prioritize the Jira backlog
Collaborate with stakeholders to define priorities and sprint goals
Identify and remove blockers impacting delivery
Track progress and proactively communicate risks
Strategic Planning & OKRs
Define and track quarterly team OKRs aligned with company goals
Report progress and drive accountability for key objectives
Translate business strategy into measurable team outcomes
Technical Leadership
Actively contribute to Python development and code reviews
Support technical decision-making and engineering best practices
Collaborate on technical roadmaps and platform improvements
Drive initiatives focused on reducing technical debt
Participate in incident management and post-mortem reviews
Hiring & Onboarding
Participate in technical interviews and candidate assessments
Lead onboarding activities for new team members
Ensure successful integration of new hires into the team
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as the primary contact between the Python team and key stakeholders
Coordinate dependencies across teams
Represent the team in planning and engineering discussions
What We're Looking For
Must-Have
3+ years of hands-on Python development experience
Experience leading, mentoring, or managing software engineers
Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
Practical experience working with Jira
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience defining and delivering against OKRs or similar goal frameworks
Ability to balance people leadership with hands-on technical work
Nice-to-Have
Experience with PHP, Bash, JavaScript, or TypeScript
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
Background in software architecture and system design
Knowledge of hosting environments, DNS, VPS management, and related infrastructure concepts
Interest in AI tools and AI-assisted development workflows
