Position: QA Lead

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated QA Lead to drive quality engineering initiatives across multiple product teams. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with proven leadership capabilities to establish quality standards, mentor QA engineers, define test strategies, and ensure the delivery of high-quality software products in a fast-paced Agile environment.
As a QA Lead, you will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineering Leads, Architects, and Business Stakeholders to build scalable quality processes, improve test automation coverage, and champion a culture of quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of QA Engineers and Senior QA Engineers.
- Define QA strategy, testing standards, and best practices across projects.
- Drive quality metrics, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct test planning, resource allocation, effort estimation, and release readiness assessments.
- Facilitate defect triage meetings and coordinate issue resolution across teams.
- Partner with Engineering and Product leadership to establish quality goals and release criteria.
- Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development of QA team members.
Quality Engineering & Test Strategy
- Act as QA SME for multiple projects, ensuring complete understanding of business requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Participate in requirements grooming and sprint planning sessions to identify risks, dependencies, and test scope.
- Develop comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases with end-to-end traceability.
- Ensure coverage across functional, integration, regression, API, database, performance, and UAT testing.
- Review and improve test processes to increase efficiency and product quality.
- Advocate shift-left testing practices and quality ownership across development teams.
Automation & Technical Excellence
- Drive test automation initiatives and increase automation coverage across applications and services.
- Establish and maintain scalable automation frameworks for UI, API, and integration testing.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery.
- Collaborate with developers to improve unit, integration, and end-to-end testing practices.
- Review application code, logs, and database validations to identify quality risks early in the development cycle.
- Promote Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) methodologies where appropriate.
Defect Management & Root Cause Analysis
- Lead defect triage and prioritization activities.
- Analyze production incidents and customer-reported issues to identify root causes.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure timely resolution of defects.
- Monitor quality metrics and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7–12+ years of Quality Assurance experience, including 2–4+ years in a QA Lead or Test Lead role.
- Strong experience leading QA teams in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Proven experience building and executing test strategies for enterprise-scale web applications and APIs.
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and automation strategy implementation.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, QA methodologies, and quality engineering practices.
- Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
Technical Skills Required
- Strong proficiency in Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, Playwright, Cypress, Jest, Puppeteer, or similar automation frameworks.
- Extensive experience testing REST APIs using Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent tools.
- Strong database testing experience with Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, and SQL/PL-SQL.
- Experience reviewing code repositories using Git, Bitbucket, or similar source control systems.
- Ability to analyze application logs and troubleshoot complex system issues.
- Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bamboo, or similar platforms.
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and commands.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in FinTech, Payments, Banking, Billing, or Transaction Processing domains.
- Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience implementing quality metrics and dashboards using Jira and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- ISTQB or equivalent QA certification is a plus.
