Job Description

QC Chemist II

  • Location: Singapore – 31 Joo Koon Circle

  • Work Schedule: This position will initially work a regular Monday to Friday schedule, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. As the business grows, the role may transition to a 12-hour rotating shift schedule covering both day and night shifts. Candidates should be comfortable with and open to supporting shift operations in the future if required.

Position Summary

As a QC Chemist II, you will play an important role in supporting the analytical quality control activities behind pharmaceutical manufacturing. You will help ensure laboratory operations meet current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), regulatory, data integrity, corporate and client requirements while delivering accurate and timely analytical results.

This role combines hands-on quality control testing with analytical method transfer, verification and validation. You will support the introduction of laboratory methods, equipment and computerized systems, prepare controlled technical documentation, review analytical data and investigate laboratory issues.

Your work will help establish and maintain a reliable, compliant QC laboratory capable of supporting the manufacture, testing and release of pharmaceutical raw materials, intermediates and finished products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the setup and ongoing development of the chemistry laboratory, including qualification of new laboratory equipment and computerized systems.

  • Perform analytical method transfer, verification and validation activities to establish methods for routine laboratory use.

  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including protocols, analytical procedures and write-ups, standard operating procedures (SOPs), specifications and reports.

  • Perform analytical testing of incoming materials, intermediates and/or finished pharmaceutical products under cGMP conditions to support quality control release and stability programs.

  • Review analytical results and laboratory data for accuracy, completeness and compliance with approved procedures and data integrity requirements.

  • Evaluate relevant pharmacopeial and regulatory updates, identify potential gaps in chemistry laboratory processes and support improvements required to maintain compliance.

  • Investigate laboratory events and deviations, prepare investigation documentation and support timely closure in accordance with Quality Management System requirements.

  • Support the management of laboratory chemicals, reference standards and consumable inventory to maintain laboratory readiness.

  • Maintain required training and qualification records and provide training or technical support to other team members as needed.

  • Collaborate with colleagues on site and internationally to resolve technical and operational issues.

  • Participate in Practical Process Improvement (PPI) and other continuous improvement activities to strengthen laboratory quality, efficiency and reliability.

  • Promote a strong quality culture and ensure cGMP requirements are consistently applied within the area of responsibility.

  • Perform work with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), cGMP and 5S workplace organization principles in mind.

  • Support additional activities as required by the business.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.

  • At least 3 years of relevant industrial laboratory experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements and relevant international guidelines within a laboratory environment.

  • Experience working independently while managing activities against critical timelines.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, complete and compliant laboratory documentation.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Candidates will be well positioned for success if they can demonstrate experience in several of the following areas:

  • Analytical method transfer, verification and/or validation within a regulated laboratory.

  • Pharmaceutical quality control testing of raw materials, intermediates, finished products and/or stability samples.

  • Laboratory equipment qualification or implementation of computerized laboratory systems.

  • Preparation of analytical protocols, reports, SOPs, specifications or other controlled GMP documentation.

  • Review of analytical data and laboratory records.

  • Laboratory investigations, deviations and structured problem solving.

  • Working within a cGMP pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical or similarly regulated laboratory environment.

  • Continuous improvement activities within laboratory operations.
