QC Sample Management Specialist

Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a QC Sample Management Specialist, in our state-of-the-art Dunboyne facility.

We are seeking a highly motivated Sample Management coordinator to join our Quality Control team. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient movement, tracking, and management of laboratory samples and associated data.

The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating sample lifecycle activities, supporting laboratory operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for excellence and accountability.

Bring energy, knowledge, innovation to carry out the following:

• Lead and oversee the end-to-end sample lifecycle, including receipt from internal departments and external sources, accurate LIMS/GLIMS logging, storage, movement, and final disposition.
• Coordinate and manage sample tracking, inventory control, and movement across laboratory systems, ensuring full traceability and compliance.
• Maintain and support the site Stability Program, including pulling samples at defined timepoints, managing testing schedules, and ensuring adherence to stability protocols.
• Review, approve, and ensure integrity of stability data to support product expiry dating and labelled storage conditions.
• Monitor testing progress and timelines, ensuring samples are tested and reported within required timelines.
• Manage Controlled Temperature Unit (CTU) capacity, inventory, and compliance, including routine audits of storage conditions.
• Perform and/or oversee sample aliquoting in compliance with laboratory procedures.
• Ensure all activities meet cGMP and regulatory standards, acting as a key contact during audits and inspections (internal, regulatory, and third-party).
• Initiate, manage, and track deviations and change controls related to stability, sample management, and laboratory processes.
• Support and contribute to investigations, CAPAs, and change implementation, ensuring effective follow-through.
• Collaborate with QC, laboratory management, and cross-functional teams to facilitate efficient testing, reporting, and issue resolution.
• Engage with centres of excellence and global teams to enhance QC systems, processes, and stability practices.
• Support implementation of quality systems, standard work, and QC quality chapters, ensuring alignment with global standards.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement, applying problem-solving tools, visual management, and operational excellence principles.
• Conduct regular audits and compliance checks of sample storage and laboratory practices.
• Provide training, coaching, and ongoing support to staff on sample management and stability procedures.
• Deliver hands-on operational support where needed to ensure continuity of laboratory activities.

What skills you will need:

In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have:

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a laboratory or quality control environment.
• Experience with sample management systems and tracking tools.
• Exposure to GMP or regulated laboratory environments is highly desirable.
