About this role
The QuickBase Developer’s role is to plan, design, develop, and launch solutions using QuickBase platform taking into account best practices related to our industry and customers. This individual will design applications for maximum flexibility and scalability and will build reusable components. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. This is a “hands-on” position requiring systems application skills, internal consulting skills, technical aptitude, and a sound understanding of business processes. Responsibilities Strategy & Planning • Assist in the planning, design, development, of new applications and enhancements to existing applications. • Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve business systems issues. • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems. • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems. Acquisition & Deployment • Assist in the deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications. • Conduct research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts. Operational Management • Create system design proposals. • Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions. • Develops, tests and modifies back office systems as needed • Create systems models, specifications, diagrams and logic flow charts to aid development. • Codes, reviews, prepares test data, tests, debugs and manages implementation. • Revises and updates programs as required. • Assists with the design and modification of internal databases required for the effective functioning of internal systems. • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems. • Ability to work with third party development partners to ensure the successful delivery of functionality assigned to the partner. • Produces program, system and user documentation along with training to end users for all modified and new systems. • Maintains and enhances technology expertise, keeping current with evolving systems analysis, programming and database technology. Position Requirements Formal Education & Certification • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information science, management information systems, or business administration. • Minimum experience of four years. Knowledge & Experience • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products. • Experience in estimating effort for a specific enhancement and then delivering the enhancement within the estimated timeframe. • Experience in development of new and maintenance of existing QuickBase applications. Expertise in developing custom pages using QuickBase API as well as regular QuickBase interface. • Extensive experience with C#, JavaScript. • Experience in Python , Ruby on Rails will be a plus. • Strong SQL and stored procedure development knowledge. • Experience in a Professional Services company supporting the Telecommunications Industry in Wireline and Wireless implementations is highly desirable. • Working knowledge of systems analysis procedures and development methodologies. • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies considered a plus. • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives. Work Conditions • Occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines. • Sitting for extended periods of time. • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components. • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals of up to 25 lbs. • Some travel may be required for the purpose of offsite software and system applications management.
