Radiation Therapist

Job Description

Radiation Therapists are responsible and accountable for the radiation therapy process. This process includes, and is not limited to, the interpreting, analyzing, and coordination of optimal radiation therapy for each patient. This individual participates in a medical surveillance prior to starting the position, while performing the position, and upon exiting the position to minimize potential adverse health effects from the hazardous drugs handled in the job.

Hours: PRN *As Needed*

Required: Bachelor's Degree, ARRT-T certificate, IEMA, BLS or CPR within 90 days of hire

Pay: Based on experience, starting at $35.43

Location: Cancer Center

Responsibilities

Administers proper treatments through regular assessment and verification and documents completely., Assesses and responds to patient and family psychosocial needs., Assesses patients daily for treatment side effects and responds with interv, Assists with quality improvement plan for, Educates patients and families appropriately for their procedures., Ensures that all measurements and data are assessed and verified related to each treatment., Follows and has knowledge of proper radiation and chemotherapy hazards., Handles and disposes of radiation treatment or waste products properly., Handles patient phone calls for patient education and/or reassurance needs., Maintains a timely patient schedule., Maintains composure throughout dealings with unpleasant situations; patients physical disfigurement, necrotic tissue, and terminal patients., Maintains quality indicators for radiation equipment., Monitors all Radiation equipment daily for proper performance., Processes changes for patient care correctly and in a timely manner., Work with the Radiation Oncologist and Dosimetrist to ensure the optimal radiation treatment course of treatment.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree (Required)ARRT - Radiography (R) - (within 1 year of hire) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), ARRT-T (Radiation Therapy) - Sarah Bush Lincoln, BLS or CPR certification (within 90 days of hire) - Sarah Bush Lincoln, IEMA - Illinois Emergency Management Agency - State of Illinois

Compensation

Estimated Compensation Range

$35.43 - $54.92
