We're looking for an experienced Regional Transport Manager to lead our Northern Region transport operation, supporting teams across Auckland, Pukekohe, Hamilton and Tauranga. This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys improving performance, leading people through change and making commercially smart decisions that deliver better outcomes for our customers and our business.
This isn't a role for someone who simply keeps the wheels turning. We're looking for someone who can step back, see the bigger picture and bring multiple sites together to operate as one high-performing region.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Transport you'll provide leadership to Transport Managers across the region while overseeing the safety, operational and financial performance of the business.
You'll spend time at each of your sites, building strong relationships with your teams, supporting leaders to grow, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, collaboration and customer service.
With exciting change ahead across the business, you'll play a key role in leading operational improvements, supporting site changes and helping teams navigate change successfully.
What you'll be responsible for
Leading a strong safety culture where people always come first.
Coaching, developing and supporting Transport Managers to build high-performing teams.
Driving operational excellence across multiple sites.
Identifying opportunities to improve productivity, utilisation and cost efficiency across the region.
Managing regional budgets, labour and asset performance.
Building strong relationships with customers and key internal stakeholders.
Ensuring compliance with NZTA requirements, driver hours and transport legislation.
Leading change initiatives while bringing people on the journey.
About you
You'll be an experienced transport or logistics leader who understands both the operational and commercial realities of running a complex transport network.
You'll bring:
Significant leadership experience within transport, logistics or supply chain.
A proven ability to lead leaders across multiple locations.
Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing budgets and improving operational performance.
The ability to think strategically while remaining close enough to the operation to support your teams.
Experience leading change and bringing people together through periods of transformation.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A collaborative leadership style that develops people and builds trust.
Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys making things better. You'll challenge the status quo, look for smarter ways of working and help create one connected regional operation.
