The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), part of the College of Science at Nanyang Technological University, was established in 2002 with a mission to advance excellence in biological and biomedical sciences. Our research spans diverse and impactful areas including infectious diseases, immunology, neurodegenerative disorders, telomere biology, and genome function. SBS is home to a vibrant, international community of scientific leaders, researchers, and professionals dedicated to innovation, discovery, and education.
We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to join the laboratory of Liang Zhao-Xun at SBS. The successful candidate will contribute to a research project focused on the characterization and engineering of enzyme biocatalysts.
Job Description
Plan and conduct biochemical experiments using appropriate experimental techniques and protocols.
Perform molecular cloning and related molecular biology procedures.
Contribute to experimental planning and design, including the development and optimization of experimental approaches.
Analyze, interpret, and critically evaluate experimental data and results.
Document and summarize experimental findings through written reports, presentations, and oral discussions.
Communicate research progress and findings clearly and effectively to team members and relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in biochemical assays, molecular cloning, protein expression, and protein structure–function studies.
Competence in DNA and protein sequence and structural analysis, including sequence comparison, structure prediction, and molecular modeling.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
